This week’s bands to soundtrack your week are curtsey of three days of fantastic live music since the weekend. Last Saturday was of course Peterfield’s very own Butserfest with a great line up for such a small festival and the night rekindled my love for The Blackout. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always loved The Blackout but in recent years I haven’t quite been convinced and it’s been a while since I saw them live (it’s probably only been 6 months or so but it feels like forever). But watching them take over Butserfest made me realize why they’re one of my favourite live bands and I did have to bust out the old The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout! EP from the early days!
Two days after Butserfest I got a last minute offer to see Frank Turner during his ‘intimate’ tour in St Albans, which is about 15 minutes away from me. Somehow over the years I’ve never managed to see him live properly; I know that’s strange considering I’ve been to Reading Festival almost every year since 2008 but somehow it happened. And I am so glad I went, he was sensational. It was nice to be at a show where tattooed up hardcore kids and people at least double my age could enjoy the same music. You don’t get that very often.
Beartooth managed to grab the last spot on my list after their show on Tuesday night. Ever since getting the album through earlier this year I can’t begin to explain my obsession over it. Let’s just say it’s a good thing my Ipod can’t tell me how many times I’ve listened to an album like Itunes can; because I may have an issue! But in all seriousness this band can do no wrong at the moment. Fantastic album, amazing live performance and some of the nicest guys you could meet. If you haven’t listened to Beartooth then you’re welcome!
