A little while ago I made some purchases from the Birchbox shop after gaining up some wonderful points. Sometimes it’s even trickier choosing what to get with your points than it is when spending your own money, as you want it to be worth it (I always do the same with my Boots points).
The first item I chose was one of the Cattier Clay Facemasks. This is a product I had received in trial size previously through Birchbox, and it’s specifically for sensitive skin (although there are other versions) which was great for me. It was easy to apply and more importantly easy to get off, and I wasn’t left slightly red after trying to scrub it off like I do with some facemasks.
The next item I chose to buy was a pair of eyelashes. I am a sucker for fake eyelashes after noticing how small my eyelashes are and how little my going out make up changed from my day time make up. I’ve tried loads of lashes and the thing I loved about these ones were how they made my eyelashes look bigger, but were not noticeably fake like some other pairs I have. They were super easy to apply – and take off – and they didn’t feel flimsy like they might break if I pulled them too hard. Lila’lli have a couple of other versions so I might just have to try these out too.
Eyeliner is one of my most used makeup products, and probably the main thing which defines my look so i’m always on the look out for new eyeliners. I was intrigued by the Tightline cake eyeliner from Laura Mercier so I thought I better give it a try. It’s a gel liner but looks a bit like a powder. I opted for black – creature of habit – and it was easy to apply (actually easier than a lot of other brands), the colour was dark and it lasted all day. Thumbs up Laura Mercier another fantastic product.
I made the realisation before this purchase that I don’t have a lot of daily wear lipsticks. Most of mine are bright reds, purples and pinks and not really suitable for wearing to work so I went for this Yves Rocher lipstick in . The colour is slightly glossy, but not too much, and gives the right amount of colour. I’m so happy with both the finish and the colour of this lipstick that i’m going to have to raid their website and see what other choices there are.
The final product I chose is a loose powder blusher, but I have yet to try this out so i’ll have to come back to you on this one.
