I’m always interested in what products others use in their daily routine, and although I don’t carry much make-up around with me (generally just lipstick) I thought i’d do a makeup bag post. The products below are things I use generally on a daily basis, but i’m always looking for recommendations so let me know what products you love.
Regardless of what other make-up I use my routine always begins by using Benefit’s porefessional as a base on my skin, and It’s Potent eye cream under my eyes. I’ve always had pretty bad bags under my eyes but I find using the Benefit eye cream my eyes appear lighter and brighter. (Internal link)
I’ve never been a fan of heavy foundation- but maybe that’s because I never mastered the art of blending or found a colour which suited my skin- and this is why I generally use CC cream. I won’t go into too much detail about the CC cream (you can read my thoughts here) but it evens out my skin tone before I move on to the rest of my make-up. I have been using garnier’s’ caffeine eye roll on for years and it’s my go to product to really hide the blemishes under my eyes. I don’t actually know where i’d be without it.
This palette is one of my favourite things I use, there are so many pretty colours and they’re all a bit shimmery too. Some people opt for matte eye-shadows for daily wear but i’m very much under the attitude of I like it so why not. I’m starting to play around more with layering and blending so this palette gives me plenty of options to try. Plus because I have green eyes I like to use a lot of nudes, browns and coppers which works well in this palette.
Eyeliner is probably the product that I own the most of. Liquids, gels, pencils you name it but the two main one’s I use on a daily basis are the Laura Mercier gel eyeliner (although it looks more like powder) which I tend to use on it’s own and Soap and Glory’s supercat liquid liner which I tend to use when I am wearing eye-shadow as it’s easier to apply. When I go out (or rather just aren’t at work) I love putting a line of Stila’s glitter black liquid liner on top for a little glimmer.
I have now settled on two of my favourite mascara’s, one high street and one not. There is over £10 different in the price of these but I do love them both. The Loreal Paris Miss Manga Punky mascara is dark, thick and works well when I wear heavy black eyeliner while Benefit’s Rollerlash makes my lashes look curled even though they aren’t and it’s just a lovely mascara. I really should buy a new one soon as you can see from the picture i’m still using a sample sized one.
I actually flit between about six different daily blushers but these are probably the two which I use the most of, there is Gosh which is little a really natural colour that just highlights my cheeks that little bit, and there’s Benefit Sugarbomb. This one is a little brighter in contrast with a slightly orange/ pink tone but it sits really nicely on the skin. I’m hoping this christmas they bring out the box which has all of them in like they did last year so I can try all the other variations.
This Mac lipstick was a purchase I made when in New York in 2013 and i’ve since gone through a couple of these. As it’s part of the cremesheen collection it’s glossy but isn’t too bright in colour that it isn’t suitable to daily wear. In contrast the Soap and Glory spurned one is a really recent addition to my make-up collection and only added when I realised how much I wanted a nude lipstick and this one is spot on. It is the perfect colour and is really long lasting.
