Bucket List: Things To Do Before I Hit 30

Posted in Lifestyle

Bucket lists are things i’ve seen so many people creating recently and while I already create lists of things I want to achieve each year ranging from places to visit to career points I want to get to I thought i’d do one too. At 25 years old, I have less than four and a half years until I turn 30 (a fact my mum likes to remind me at each birthday!) and I know so much can change in my life over these years but here are some things I want to tick off my bucket list before then.

Go to Warped Tour in America

I’ve been watching social media updates of Warped Tour and seeing reviews of it in magazines for such a long time that I feel it’s only right that I head over to America to the festival myself. I have already talked to a few friends about potentially going over to New York next July for the event so fingers crossed we get this booked up.

Go skydiving

Skydiving is something i’ve wanted to do for absolute ages as I think it would be one of those experiences you’ve got to do once in your life. I’ve never really been a fan at thinking of doing this in the UK- if I do it I want beautiful views when I plummet downwards- so maybe I can combine this with my next bucket list item.

Go to Australia

Australia is somewhere i’ve wanted to visit for ages, especially as i’ve heard so many cool stories from people I know about how amazing it is. I want to scuba dive at the great barrier reef, get into a cage with sharks around me and go to Byron Bay. If I could combine this with a skydive- and their annual Soundwave festival then this would be the ultimate trip.

Get to my ideal weight and maintain it

I’ve yoyoed over the past four years from being the size I am now, right down to my ideal weight and then back up again. I don’t want to get to the weight deemed right for my height, or the weight that others may see as optimal, I want to get to the weight I want to be. I currently don’t feel happy with how I look so I want to get where I am happy and maintain it.

Run a marathon

I’ve been upping my fitness levels so much over the past seven months and I feel so much better for it but running is still my weakness. I am walking a marathon in September so at least i’ll get an idea of the length but over the next four a bit years i’d love to keep increasing my fitness levels so that I can finally run one.

Go on a trip on my own

Now I don’t mind whether this is a long weekend on my own or a few weeks off travelling i’ve never really been away completely on my own and I think it’s something I need to experience. I’m not confident talking to new people so hopefully being on my own will push me to speak to new people, that or i’ll just get a lot done while i’m away.

Go to Disneyland Florida

I’m such a big kid when it comes to Disney and theme parks. I love rollercoasters so much and am a complete adrenaline junkie with that sort of thing that i’ll try pretty much anything, but I also love Disney. I’d love to experience all the worlds at Disneyland and just get the chance to become a big kid again.

Start saving

I’m pretty good with my money, transferring out all my bill money to separate accounts and never missing payments but I haven’t really saved for a long time. Back at the end of 2012 I bought my flat which meant all my savings went on my deposit, solicitors fees, new furniture etc and i’ve not been in a position since to save again. On top of all the amazing trips I want to do I want to start saving money each month so i’ve got money behind me for the future. (Good luck me!)

Other bucketlist items

  • Visit Iceland and hopefully see the northern lights
  • Get a piece of my work published in a decent print magazine/ newspaper
  • Stay in an ice hotel
  • Go to Stonehenge for Summer or Winter solstace
  • Go up the Eiffel Tower
  • Watch all the movies on my cult classics list (currently sat at about 150 movies)

  • Love this bucket list! I would have the same kind of things bar the weight loss – it's more important for me to learn to love my body rather than try to change it. Love your ideas though, I hope you get to experience them!

    • Thanks, I hope so too. With my weight loss it's because I am not happy with the way I look on a personal level not because of what others think but what I think. x

  • It's an amazing bucket list, a super amount of traveling – hope you get there.

    • Thanks, I think travelling is one of the best experiences you can have. x

  • Such a great list! Many of these are also on mine, or things I've already done! Right now my biggest things are to visit more places in my own country (the USA) and to go cliff diving in Greece, and to go to Thailand!

    • Yeah when you live in the US there's so many places you can experience yourself in your own country. Cliff diving sounds really interesting though, anything with an adrenaline boost sounds good to me x

  • This is a great idea for a blog post! I have always wanted to go to the Stonehenge for the summer solstice because my birthday falls on exactly the same day – June 21st :)

    • Oh that would be a lovely birthday celebration to go there. It always looks like such a great atmosphere. x

  • Love your bucket list, apart from the skydiving, that would terrify me! To go up the Eiffel tower is also on mine, I really want to go to Russia and also go to Lapland when my daughter is a little older, we have got to see Santa!! :)

    • I haven't been up the eiffel tower despite going to Paris so that is certainly something i'd love to do, and Russia and Lapland, you're never too old to visit Santa! x

  • I'm just back from Disney World Florida and yeah, it was pretty amazing! We've only been back a month and already we're looking to book up again :)

    • Glad you had a great time. I think it's certainly one of those things that you can't just do once. I'm such a big kid when it comes to Disney, plus I love rides! x

  • I definitely recommend going on a solo trip. Quite possibly one of the best things I've ever done.

    • I've already researched trips over the New Years break to go away on my own. Have to admit i'm pretty nervous! x

  • I love bucket lists! The weight goal is one of mine too! I'm 30 next May so don't have a lot of time! :)

    • You have plenty of time to make positive changes to build to the right direction! x

  • You've got some really good things on your list! All very realistic, therefore, all achievable! I definitely think travelling on your own is a good one – I'm sure you'd find it an amazing experience x

    • I am already looking into a trip over New Year which would be on my own. A scary yet super exciting thought x

  • Love this bucket list! I hit 30 in 3.5 years and I still have so many things that I would love to achieve!

    • Even if money was no object i'd struggle to fit everything I want to do in but this seems like a realistic amount x

  • Wow what a great list! How amazing will it be to look back and realise how much you have achieved? Good luck!

    • That is what i'm hoping. I really hope that when I hit 30 I can look back on this and realise that I did achieve all of these things! Fingers crossed x

  • great list, Sky diving is on my list too along with a trip to either Diseyland or Disneyworld
