So many of my friends are moaning that the sunshine and any chance of summer has gone but I am the opposite I am so happy it’s Autumn. Autumn is my favourite season and i’m happy to embrace the colder weather. Here are some reasons why I love this time of year:
Hot chocolate and tea can become staple parts of my diet again
During the winter months I will start every day with a mint/ green/ fruit tea and end the day with a hot chocolate because it’s a bit chilly and you want to warm up. In the summertime the last thing I want to do is warm myself up when i’m already hot and sweaty. I’ve recently discovered peanut butter hot chocolate which is insane!
You can sleep properly tucked up under the duvet
Okay it might still be a tiny bit warm now but during the Summer you have the internal debate of do I sleep above the cover, under, arm in, arm out etc… But during Autumn there’s no debate, you get under the duvet and cuddle up.
It’s totally acceptable to stay in and watch TV all evening
When it’s the summertime people message you to go to pub gardens, on outdoor walks or just generally enjoy the sunshine. When it’s dark and a bit cold that goes out of the window and there’s more chance of staying in, cuddled up and watching Netflix. I’m not a social recluse I swear.
It’s almost the time of the year when I bust out the Onesie
Yes I was against the Onesie to begin with but they’re warm, comfortable and the BEST thing to wear in the Autumn time. In the summertime it’s hard enough to wear any form of nightwear never mind a massive fluffy Cheshire cat costume (Yes I do have a Cheshire Cat onesie and it’s amazing!)
It means Christmas isn’t far away
I have already seen Christmas things in shops now but when it hits Autumn and October properly kicks in you know it’s the month after next. Yes I have started my Christmas shopping and I am not ashamed of this. I love spoiling my family and friends and Christmas itself is a magical time of year. From now until a few days before Christmas my flat is usually full of presents in every available space!
We can wear boots again (hooray!)
The Autumn time of the year means that I get to start wearing boots again and I have to admit i’m so happy about this. Boots are so much more comfortable than sandals or slip on shoes and it means I can wear unicorn print fluffy socks underneath and no one has to know!
I don’t have to dress summery
I don’t dress appropriately for the seasons and in the summertime I wear pretty much the same stuff I do all year round but with cut off sleeves. I hate shorts and I don’t really like dresses or skirts that much, and I hate showing off the tops of my arms. Autumn means I can wear jeans and jumpers and not worry that i’m going to melt into a puddle.
Candles can be used all the time
During the Autumn (and Winter) months I tend to light all of my Gingerbread/ Cinnamon/ Mulled Cider smelling candles and make my flat smell like you’ve stepped into a Christmas workshop. Lighting a candle when it’s warm and sunny outside just isn’t the same.
We get an extra hours sleep at the end of October
That’s right October is when the clocks go back, so for one night we get an extra hour of sleep time (yay!) Sunday mornings have never felt as amazing as when you wake up at the same time as normal but feeling a little bit more refreshed. Or you could stay up until 2am and get the closest you’ll ever get to time travel.
Gig season is set to start back up
The summertime is full of festivals and very few bands tend to tour during the Summer which means that when the beginning of October kicks in gigs spring up all the time. October- December usually see’s me at around one a week and I can’t wait to see some of my favourite bands soundtrack my Autumn.
