Make-Up Products Which Have Changed My 2015 Routine

favourite make up

Because my 2015 blogging schedule has been a bit up and down until the later few months where I got into the zone and began planning content etc, I haven’t really done a lot of beauty round-up posts. Usually i’ll just post when I find an awesome new product and it’s hard to keep track of them all. Because of this I thought i’d do a post about some of the best products that I have discovered this year.

Ultimate Product

Urban Decay Setting Spray- £21
You might have seen me talk about this last month but it is seriously amazing. Any time I know I have a long day planned, or are going on a night out I spray this a few times over my finished make-up and I have noticed a massive difference in the staying power of my look. I don’t tend to have blush which fades, foundation which goes a bit blotchy after 7+ hours, or eyeshadow which loses its payoff. I would possibly even go as far as saying it’s my best find of the year.

supergoop and nars

Supergoop CC Cream- Lights/ Medium- £33
I first discovered this last year but it has been in 2015 that I have really used it. For those days where you want to have coverage but you don’t want to pop on foundation or spend ages on your look I use Supergoop’s CC Cream. It has enough coverage to smoothen my skin and get rid of any larger blotches but it looks so natural sometimes even I forget I’m wearing it.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer- £22
Now I may have only bought this concealer about a month ago but I am already in love. Due to a constant lack of sleep and disjointed sleeping patterns I tend to live with quite dark circles under my eyes which products never really seem to solve. This is until I got my hands on the Nars Creamy Concealer. I only need a few dabs under each eye for enough coverage to lighten the circles and look natural with the rest of my makeup. The colour also matches my skin perfectly because they have a great choice of colours available.

Nars Blush in Sex Appeal- £23
Again this is another product that I have only had for just over a month but it is already my go to day-to-day blush because it has enough colour to ensure that I don’t look too pale (sadly my natural complexion). The colour is a really light rose colour and I think it would suit pretty much all skin tones, especially the fellow pale skinned people out there.

Bareminerals Marvelous Moxie Lipliner- Empowered- £13
I’ve been really bad with lip liners so I bought this beautiful coloured liner on a complete whim in the hope that it would prolong the life of my lipsticks. It did exactly that and more! I tend to pair this liner with a particular lipstick and the pair match together so well it’s sometimes hard to know which is which. The colour is gorgeous and it glides on so easily. The staying power rocks too so another fantastic purchase.

Elf Nude Lipstick Pencil
I bought this lipstick on a  complete whim at Washington DC airport before I came home from the States earlier this year because I was bored, had money to spend and it was all of about £4 and MY GOD! The lipstick is a beautiful dark nude colour so it’s deep enough to highlight my lips and show that there is colour on there but it’s a great everyday lipstick and I find myself using it over a lot of my high end nude lipsticks. It’s lasting power is amazing and I can pretty much put it on at 830am before work and still have it on at 530pm when I leave. Truly amazing, but sadly you can’t buy this in the UK (although you can buy other products from them) so when I head back next Summer i’m definitely picking up some more!

Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper- $19
My Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner purchase may well be my favourite item from my Sephora haul because it is perfect in pretty much every way you want an eyeliner to be. I chose the black (although i’ll also be adding the brown to my collection next time). The pen is so easy to draw on and it is really thin meaning I don’t have to do thick lines to get the look I want. The colour stays dark throughout the day as opposed to lightening like others do and it stays on through thick and thin!

Loreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara- £8.99
I have tried so many mascara’s I can’t even think, from bargain ones for a few quid up to high end branded ones for over £20 but it was Loreal Paris’ Miss Manga Punky Mascara which still holds my top spot for mascara’s. At under £9 it is a steal and the thin wand is so easy to apply that I can get right into the corners of my lashes and reach them all. It gives my lashes loads of volume and makes them stand out.

Pop Naturally Bare Palette- £15.50
This was probably my toughest choice because I’ve bought so many palettes this year but my Pop shadow palette had to grab the top spot because the whole range is so wearable. There isn’t a single colour in here which I haven’t used, and the dark almost black works as a great substitute to eyeliner. The colours are really pigmented even when I don’t use shadow primer and they’re really blendable so I can create some awesome combinations of shades.
Bonjour Paris Shimmer Eyeshadow Shade 10- £6.99
I use very few individual shadows but as soon as I saw this shade earlier this year I fell just a little bit in love. It is a shimmery, glittery, champagne coloured shadow which is really beautiful. It isn’t too dark which means I can get away with wearing it on it’s own but it also works really well on top of a brighter shadow to add a bit of glamour.  Unlike a lot of glittery, shimmery shadows I have tried there is no fallout from the colour so I’m not left covered in powder, yay!

  • You're very adventurous (or maybe I'm just too old and stuck in my ways). I'd probably like to try out new things. Interesting what you say about the mascara though, as I was contemplating it for my daughter (15). You may have just swung my decision for me there.

    • I don't tend to like a lot of drug store brands but sometimes you genuinely can't beat them x

  • Love the review of the Nars concealer. I've been eyeing it for a while but I wasn't sure if it would work for my skin/makeup routine. I think I'll pick it up soon. Hopefully I have as good of an experience as you did!

    Brittny |

    • It's definitely worth the money! Hopefully you should have the same experience, there are enough shades to get a good match too x

  • I can't go without my concealer! I'm with you on always having dark circles and I swear by Collections concealer :)

I'm a big time fan of neutral eyeshadows and I already for 3 palettes.
If I spot this in store, I might end up buying this too!
    Fashion Panache, My Travelogue

    • I love neutral palettes so much which is why my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette is also used a lot x

  • I'm definitely more a drug store kind of girl but it's great to see that some of these items are totally worth what they cost! I think I might get the setting spray it sounds great!

    • I've heard good things about a setting spray from Rimmel (I think it is!) which I want to try when my Urban Decay one has run out! x

  • Ooh I need the Nars concealer and blush in my life! I have terrible dark circles all the time and never found a concealer that helps so thanks for this! I've been really impressed with Avon products this year which I never thought I'd say! Theor lipsticks are incredible.

    • They're both great. The concealer is definitely the best one I've used and it matches my skin tone spot on x

  • I live for NARS. Their products are just amazing and Sex Appeal is one of my favourite blushes too. You should check out their foundations and their eyeshadow palettes :)

    • I have a foundation of theirs but I haven't used enough to be totally convinced. An eyeshadow palette is on my list though! x

  • I totally agree with you on the UD makeup setting spray and the Nars concealer! Sometimes I even wear the concealer as my only base. No foundation or anything x

  • Supergoop sounds like such a strange name for a makeup product! I love the elf lippy though :)

    • It is a odd name when you think about it! The elf stuff is amazing x

  • I have also changed my makeup routine a bit this year. I was pregnant and then on maternity leave last year and didn’t wear much makeup at all. I started working again earlier this year and bought everything from foundation. concealer, powder and blush from MAC. My favourite product has to be my MAC concealer.

I’ve not tried NARS & Elf products yet. Heard great things so might get a few bits and bobs soon.

    • The MAC concealer is on my wishlist, so when my Nars one runs out I might have to try it! x

  • I've become addicted to the Urban Decay fixing spray too, it is amazing and really helps your make up last.
