Tea Detox: SlendertoxTea Vs BooTea

Tea Detox: SlendertoxTea Vs BooTea

About eighteen months ago I started drinking green/ herbal/ mint tea because I knew that I wanted to do a tea detox and thought I better get my body used to drinking it. Flash forward a few months to January 2015 when I ordered Slendertoxtea online to begin my first tea detox. I read up loads of bloggers experiences with the tea but struggled to find a comparison between the one I bought and the other giant on the market BooTea. Everybody’s bodies react differently so I thought having tried both a few times over the last year that I would put a comparison post together so you can see what I thought of the two.

What They Claim To Do

Slendertoxtea are an online health supplements company whose aim is to “bring your natural healthy products to assist you with a healthy balanced lifestyle.” When talking about their tea they say “Our 100% herbal, detox, organic tea will give you the best, most natural detox your body likely needs, especially if you have never done a detox before! It works by helping to break down the fatty deposits that adhere to the gastrointestinal tract enabling it to work more efficiently, within a short period of time you may find you have less bloating, increased metabolism and a new detoxed you”.

While Bootea describe their brand as a “UK based health supplements company that has a desire to promote an active, healthy and balanced lifestyle.” When talking about their products they say they are “not only a great way to kickstart a healthier you but can also be added into an already active lifestyle. The aim of Bootea is to give you the boost you need to get back on track with your healthy eating and active lifestyle. Teatox is a fancy word we use to describe the way the body goes through a natural process of elimination, by removing unwanted ‘toxins’ and built up waste matter, from your body via the lungs, kidneys, bowels and skin”.

I’m going to be perfectly honest neither Slendertoxtea or BooTea taste amazing, although neither make me want to gag which I guess is a positive. You’re meant to put in warm (not boiling) water to the teabag and I tend to leave mine go a little cold so I can drink it quickly so the tea bag was in quite a while which may have contributed to the stronger taste. If you don’t mind green tea then like me you probably won’t hate either tea.

How it made me feel

Both products claim to do similar things and taste pretty much the same but that is where the similarities stop. With BooTea I didn’t feel much different, some days I had actually forgotten I was on a tea detox. I rarely needed the toilet more than normal and even after the night time teas I wasn’t rushing to need the loo like I was led to believe I would. With Slendertoxtea though it was a tough detox. I found I needed the toilet quite a lot more, and each time I was actually going (I’ll spare you any more details), although this wasn’t ideal I could tell it was working, BooTea did not feel like it was cleansing or detoxing my body.

With Slender ToxTea thought I did find that I had pains and felt a little sick. Throughout the two week detox I would generally have cramps and an uncomfortable stomach around the same time each afternoon from the morning tea. Note though that you might find your first time using a tea detox worse than normal. This was the first tea detox I tried and for the first week I was in incredible pain, so much so that I thought I would have to stop. As I have done a few more since Slendertoxtea does produce discomfort but nowhere near the same level as the first time.

In all honesty I felt very little difference to myself after using BooTea, I didn’t feel totally cleansed and my stomach did not feel any different. But with Slendertoxtea I did feel different, I was noticeably less bloated, I was going to the toilet more regularly and I did feel more refreshed.

Both of the teas are very similar in price with BooTea at £19.99 for a 14 day detox, or £37.99 for a 28 day detox which you can split into two batches. Holland and Barrett sell these teas and I have found them on the penny sale a few times so this can be a great time to save some money. Slendertoxtea can only really be bought online, but postage is free so it’s not too bad. You can purchase a 14 day detox for £19.99, or a 28 day detox for £32.99.

Overall recommendation

I have tried both at least twice but I would always recommend Slendertoxtea if people ask which I prefer. After giving it two goes sadly I wouldn’t give Bootea another go but that isn’t to say it might not work for others.

Have you tried a detox tea? How did you get along with it?

Iv never tried any of this stuff as I don't belive in the whole 'detox' hype – after all your body naturally detoxes itself. I do love a green tea however

Never done a tea detox but I have been tempted. I think Sleadertoxtea would clearly be the one to go for. Interesting to read of your experiences.

I hate tea, couldn't even do this even if it was decent tea. I don't like the idea of doing a detox this way either, but each to their own, glad it managed to do some good to you 🙂 x

I used to hate tea but now I don't go a day without it! You're right everyone has their own way of detoxing x

Just drink green tea for a few weeks before to get used to that and you'll be okay! x

  6. January 25, 2016 / 9:35 am

Not a fan of green tea so don't think this would be for me.

    • January 25, 2016 / 10:34 am

I pretty much trained myself to like/ tolerate green tea to do this, but it isn't for everyone x

I have never tried a tea detox but my friend has used bootea and it has helped her lose a lot of weight. I think it just depends on you as no two people are the same.

    • January 25, 2016 / 3:44 pm

Exactly that's why I couldn't really use the reviews I read as one person would use one product, and one person use another x

  9. January 25, 2016 / 4:48 pm

Interesting review, do you only drink the tea on the teatox or are you allowed to also eat? I think I would be tempted to possibly stick with green tea or lemon tea, if the teas you've described taste even slightly unpleasant.

Thanks for the honest review which is alway helpful when researching and contemplating trying a new product.
