Losing Weight With Certaslim

I have battled with my weight ever since I was a child and throughout my teenage years I always said I should diet but never had the self-control to do it, and then I was in a relationship for 18 months in my late teens/ early 20’s and both me and my other half put on a lot of weight with the takeaway orders and treats. A little while after we split up me and my mum joined slimming world where I lost 4 and a half stone in my first year. I was so close to target and then Christmas happened and two years later I was back where I started. Things since then have been up and down and I’ve just not had the self-control again to push myself. I may well be healthier now with a more varied diet, and a hell of a lot more exercise but I am bigger than I want to be. So when Certaslim* contacted me a few weeks ago offering for me to trial out 2 weeks of their nutrition plan I jumped at the chance.

The package of food arrived alongside a welcome pack which explained the diet giving the three options you could adopt. Flex which meant you had one home cooked meal a day from their list of choices and Rapid and Boost which were all their food but differing amounts. I opted for the one which boosted the quickest results and the pack explained everything I could and couldn’t have. I won’t explain the whole thing but noticeably you couldn’t have fizzy drinks (not even diet ones) and no fruit, but I was able to have four meals a day (options of a shake, oatmeal, soup, meal replacement bar or meal), a snack, an allocation of milk, some vegetables and some condiments from their list.


The first thing I noticed when I opened my delivery was the choice in products, I had 8 shake choices (Chocolate Orange/ Chocolate/ Chocolate Mint/ Strawberry/ Vanilla/ Hazelnut/ Caffee Latte/ Banana), 5 different varieties of soup (Cream of tomato/ mushroom/ chicken/ vegetable and curry noodle), 2 choices of meal replacement bar (Blueberry Yoghurt and Cappuccino Crunch), 4 choices of main meal (Spaghetti Bolognaise, Cottage Pie, Chilli and Creamy Carbenara), 2 Oatmeals (regular and apple and cinnamon), and 3 snack choices (Chocolate/ Chocolate coconut/ lemon yoghurt). Going back a few years and I would not have even dared try a lot of these choices but I did and I only found a small handful that I didn’t like, the Strawberry shake made me feel ill, the vegetable soup was always lumpy and I just don’t like oatmeal or blueberry bars. But as a whole the choice was extensive and most of it was really tasty.

When I first got my Certaslim delivery I spent ages separating out the products so each day I got a mixture and wasn’t having too many shakes in a day etc. Generally I found my optimal day was a shake for breakfast, a snack bar mid-morning, soup for lunch, another shake when I first got home from work and a meal in the evening. I am used to having large portions of food, even when I’ve been on slimming world I’d stock up on potatoes and other ‘free’ food, so I was expecting to feel a little hungry with the Certaslim foods, but surprisingly I wasn’t.

I didn’t stick to the food 100% of the time because I want to see realistically how it would fit into my life. We all have times when we go out, we meet friends for dinner etc and I wanted to see how this would affect things. For the two weeks that I did it generally I was off Certaslim at the weekends and did it all throughout the week with one dinner being off plan. With this mind I still lost 5 lbs on my first week, so if I had stuck to it 100% of the time I can’t imagine how my weight lose would have gone. The second week was tougher as I was out more but I still lost 3 lbs which I was really happy about. As I’ve not used all the products I have enough to last me another week and I’ve made an order myself for some more so let’s see what the future holds.

  • I've tried so many diets over the years that I've lost count. I've recently lost almost 2 stone by stepping up my fitness and monitoring what I eat, cutting down on sugar and watching macros. Best of luck with your weight loss journey, it sounds like you have found yourself a good plan.

  • There seems to be a new diet company out every week at the moment, but I have't heard of this one yet. Good luck with it!
    I have tried everything and the only thing that worked for me and helped me to lose 7 stone, and keep it off, was calorie counting.

  • With these particular types pf diets, you Must and Need to exercise as well. The beat way to diet is to just eat healthily. Cut out any sugary drinks, even diet, as they are full of chemicals.
    Cutting out fruit and veg for a week will get rid of any excess water in your body, so, you think you've lost weight, but actually, you're just cleansing your system.

    I know people that have tried these types.of diets and generally put the weight back on. It's as simple of retraining yourself to eat healthily, and you'd loose weight naturally. However, exercise is the way forward, as you need to work off the calories that you have eaten.

    • Thanks for the advice. I exercise quite a lot, I tend to do cardio around 4 times a week and walk a lot as well and doing obstacle courses.

  • I tried a meal replacement one a few years ago and I did lose quite a bit of weight in the two weeks, but the choice of meals was nothing like this choice, might give this one a go.

  • I have tried something like this in the past and had quite good results with it, losing around 7 pounds in my first week. I would definitely be up for something like this again to boost my weight loss. Your results are great especially seeing as you didn't stick with it 100% as you said xx

  • It definitely sounds like a really interesting product and so good it'se working for you – I always find I fall fowl of the shakes in these as I don't like the texture often which is a shame. x

  • Like a worth to try product but it will work well with the exercise and consisitent healthy eating. :)

  • The products are very convenient and easy to use, I think it's quite easy to follow the diet with so many different choices.

  • I lost around two and a half stone on Slimming World a few years ago but I've put it all back on now plus a few stone. I often toy with the idea of going back but it's an expense I can't afford at the moment.

  • At my size I definitely do not need to lose any weight as I'm perfect for my height and age. However, this does sound like an interesting product line that I will pass on to others who might desire it.
