Mac x Halsey Lipstick Collaboration

Mac x Halsey

I’m not usually one for limited edition releases, I tend to find that they are over hyped and are just fancy packaging surrounding ordinary products. Mac tend to do so many limited edition releases that I don’t even keep up but last month one really did catch my eye.

When the Mac x Halsey collaboration showed up though I was drawn in. I am going to admit I wasn’t that familiar with Halsey but it was her lipstick which caught my eye. I am not particularly adventurous with my makeup and I tend to opt for neutrals or my tried and tested products but I was instantly drawn to the grey-blue tone of the lipstick. Perhaps it’s my inner goth trying to come out but it’s such a great colour.

The Mac x Halsey lipstick is part of the matte collection and is a medium-dark grey tone with very subtle blue undertones and it really is unique. I’ve seen plenty of blues, and plenty of blacks out there but very few greys. The lipstick applies just like most of the mac collection creamy, smooth without a drag or tug to your lipsticks and the colour is mostly opaque.

Due to how dark the colour is you have to be very careful to cover all your lips even the inner lines because it really is noticeable if you miss a spot. I’d also recommend using a clear lip liner to avoid any bleeding of the colour and a primer to smoothen out any lines with this lipstick as you’ll want it to look absolutely perfect and it does emphasise lines just because of it’s depth! The few times I’ve worn the colour it has lasted really well and hasn’t felt drying on my lips which is a massive plus. Much to my shock the lipstick is currently sold out online, although hopefully it will be back soon.

The Mac x Halsey lipstick retails at £15.50 which is pretty standard for Mac, but much to my shock the lipstick is currently sold out online, although hopefully it will be back soon.

Grey lipstick? That is so cool and yes I find that darker lipsticks need a clear lip liner to stop the lippie bleeding!

This colour looks lovely, there’s something very different about a nice dark grey and I imagine it looks great. I love MAC matte shades, they’re always really pigmented and not drying. x
