Eat Shit And Die(t)

Eat Shit And Die(t)

Eat Shit and Die(t) is the name of a new dieting book by Max Cunningham and for once it’s a refreshing take on dieting which does not tread lightly. If you’re not a fan of swearing or brash language then turn around because this isn’t for you, but if you’re looking for straight to the point talking then give it a go.

The premise of the diet is intermittent fasting which is something I’ve actually written about for some clients in my freelance work before and the concept intrigued me. Through his book Max makes it seem so simple, in basic terms you don’t change what you eat, you change when you eat. Your body takes a few hours to digest food so if you need energy during the digestion period your body will use the energy from the food you’ve eaten, but if your body isn’t digesting food then it will take it from fat supplies in your body helping you to burn fat.

Usually your body only gets this when you’re sleeping but Max’s diet states you should eat within an 8-hour window during the day leaving 14 hours for your body to digest and burn fat. For me this wasn’t too bad as I’ve never been a massive breakfast fan so I would chose the 1pm-9pm slot allowing me time for lunch and then late enough that I could eat dinner whenever (although usually I only needed about 7 hours of eat time). From the point this post goes out FYI I am going to be doing this diet to see if Max is right, and I’m going in for the optimal version of the three ‘dieting’ options.

The concept is clever and makes lots of sense with scientific and dietary breakdowns in the book if you want to read them, there’s even a section on exercise giving tips on the types of things to do to aid your dieting. The whole book reads partly like a self-help book trying to tell you to man the f**k up and it’s partly like a wise friend who knows how to make your life easier. If this sounds like your kind of diet you can grab a copy of the book here.

What do you think about intermittent fasting?

It doesn’t sound too bad for a diet. Looking forward to finding out a bit more about it.

I eat in a completely different way, so I don’t think this could possibly work for my metabolism and way of life.
Although, I must say I’m curious to see what results someone might get if they follow this program for a certain amount of time.

OK, that book may have the best title I have ever seen. Love the idea of eating at different times and the way you eat rather than the food itself.

I am familiar with intermittent fasting. I know some people are happy with it, but it would never work with my lifestyle. Good luck.

I do like the idea of intermittent fasting though it’s something I have done before without realising it.
Let us know how you get on

I’m not a fan of breakfast either. Good luck with the diet 🙂

Sounds interesting, I hope this diet works for you. The 500 calorie diet is supposed to work if done for two days a week and I guess that also uses the concept of fasting. Good luck with it!
