I am all about creating lists and making goals, each and every year I have a small list of things I want to achieve in that year from going on certain holidays to career progression. Seeing as I turn 27 in a few months and am edging ever closer to the allusive thirty marker I thought I would think more encompassing things I want to achieve in my lifetime.
Get into a job I am proud to tell people about
You know when you speak to people and they tell you what they do with such enthusiasm and excitement you know they’re proud of what they do? I want that. I’m the one whose like yeah I’m just in marketing. I want a proper career job, the kind of one which I am qualified to do and not just any old body on the street could do, and I want to work for an industry I am passionate about and believe in. Where I am currently I know I don’t have that so I need to do something about it and it’s my number one mission for 2017.
Get published in proper print media
I have loved writing ever since I could and while I’ve had some writing in small scale print magazines, and things printed for promo purposes/ festivals etc I want to have at least one thing in a proper print medium. I know everything is online now and less and less people read print but it’s been a life long dream so one day…..
Meet my partner in crime
Now I’m not a maternal person and the whole ‘family’ side of things just isn’t me, if it happens it happens but I’m not looking for kids in an ideal world, but I don’t want to live my life alone. Yes I’d love to get married but this isn’t the most important thing, ultimately I want to meet that person who is my partner in crime, happy to put up with me even at my worst and willing to come on adventures with me. My problem is I am not willing to settle and I think my standards are too high so who knows where I might end up.
Being financially stable
In the modern world it is much harder to be financially stable as the idea of ‘savings’ don’t tend to exist for a lot of people and I know the only thing I generally save for at the moment is car insurance and holiday’s. It would be nice to one day have some savings which aren’t put aside for anything and being able to make silly impulse purchases if I really feel the need to treat myself, or if I want a f**k it crazy holiday I have the funds to.
Own my own house
I was very lucky that I was able to buy my flat at aged 22 (okay shared ownership but I still paid a massive deposit and have a mortgage so I’m counting it). The reason for this was purchasing it alone and while I’d love to own a home I think the reality is unless I win the lottery I’m never going to be able to do that alone. I’d love to have a small garden meaning I can finally get a cat *hooray* and it would be nice to have a tiny bit more space for my ever growing possessions.
Visit as many countries as physically possible
This sounds like a really generic wish but there are just too many places in the world to list them all. I’d love to explore all the cities and countries in the world but realistically in a world when we have to work this might not happen. But I’d love to be in a position where I can book holidays, go on trips and explore countries as much as possible.
Never miss the special occasions with family
I am incredibly close with my family and I would hate to think that I ever miss any of the big occasions like birthdays’ and Christmas’ so I want to make sure that throughout my life I make that effort to see my family when ever I can. People aren’t going to be around forever and I’d hate myself if I missed a special occasion only to not see that person again.
