Later this month I turn 27 which means I’m only 3 years’ away from the next big milestone in my life. Part of me is terrified of turning 30 because it seems so much more grown up and thinking of my mum at 30 she was married with 2 kids and a house, but part of me is excited as it’s another chapter in my life. I’m all one for making bucket lists and so I decided that I would try to do a 30 before 30 travel challenge, now of course 10 trip’s a year is a bit of wishful thinking but I am going to split this up into 10 out of the country, 10 within the country and 10 more experiences’ as day trips and experiences can be as much fun as jumping on a plane. This might be a hard challenge but I’m all one for giving things a shot.
10 out of the country
Hawaii- This is kind of a cheat as I have this booked for April this year but it’s always been a bucket list place and it still hasn’t hit me that I am actually going to go. Beaches, wildlife, snorkeling, rainforests’, coffee farms, trekking, volcanoes and loads more awaits me on my 8-day long tour.
Bali- Again another cheat one as I’ve paid a deposit on this tour. I had planned to do this in September 2017 although there’s a small chance I might postpone it until 2018 depending on how this year goes. My brothers’ girlfriend headed here and absolutely loved it and everywhere looked stunning.
Prague- This is one of those places I’ve been meaning to go to but never got round to it. It’s meant to be an arts-centric city with so much to see. The church made entirely of skulls is definitely a bucket list item.
New York– I may have been here four times already but there are two more times’ of the year I want to experience New York in. One would be over the festive period, namely New Year so I can see the ball drop and see the Rockefeller tree up in all its glory. I’d also love to go in March time which is when both Ice Hockey and Basketball seasons are in full swing as I’d love to go to some matches at Madison Square Garden.
Barcelona- I don’t know how I’ve explored Europe and never hit up this city as it’s such an interesting place with loads to see and do but loads of beaches and places for relaxation too.
Reykjavik- Iceland has been on my bucket list for such a long time but it’s so important to choose the right time of the year as I’d love to see the Northern Lights. I’d also love to relax in the natural baths’ and go whale watching. I can deal with the cold so perhaps one for a New Year trip.
Romania- I had a trip to Romania planned for Easter last year but sadly it didn’t happen but I want to make it happen. It included staying in an ice hotel, visiting Transylvania and exploring Dracula’s haunts and heading to Bucharest as well. I will make this trip happen.
Cologne- I love the look of the gothic style architecture in Cologne and it’s somewhere I wanted to head to this Christmas for the Christmas markets but Geneva won by default. I am almost certain that I’ll take myself there for the festive season either this year or next because you can’t beat a good German market.
Rome- I went to Rome back in 2010 and it still stands as one of my favourite European cities just down to how beautiful it was. I really want to head back and re-experience the history, re-explore the cobbled streets and re-eat all the pizza I can lay my hands on.
African Safari- Going on safari is another life long bucket list item and I think it would make a fantastic holiday heading out on game drives and seeing animals in as close to their natural environment as possible. It would be the perfect place to test my camera skills and I’d love to go to some animal sanctuaries and spend time with the animals up close.
10 within the country
Edinburgh– I’ve been to Edinburgh twice already but it’s one of my favourite cities and actually pretty easy to get to despite how far away it seems. I want to explore the city some more, stock up on fudge and see what else I’ve missed.
Bath- I’ve only been to Bath for the Christmas markets before and it was heaving with people so I’d love to head back and see the city outside of the festive season. The baths have always fascinated me so I’d love the chance to explore them.
Cornwall- Can you believe I’ve never actually been to Cornwall? Okay it seems so blooming far away with the beaches look stunning and you have an excuse to scoff Cornish Ice Cream all day every day so of course I want to head here!
Oxford- Seeing as Oxford is only an hour or so away from me I have only ever been here for gigs and this definitely needs to change. There’s so much to do and see in Oxford and seeing as one of my close friends’ lives there it’s about time for me to visit her and be taken around the city.
Liverpool- I’ve not been to many places up north and Liverpool is somewhere I’ve wanted to go for ages. I really want to go to the Beatles Experience plus I know there is a gin distillery there and I’m on a bit of a gin kick at the moment so I’d love to visit.
Manchester- Another place up north which I have never visited is Manchester. I actually have no idea exactly what’s in Manchester but it’s somewhere I’d love to go.
Blackpool- Yes Blackpool might be tacky and a cliche but I’ve always wanted to go to Blackpool and experience the illuminated tower, explore the pleasure beach, lounge on the beach and eat fudge and fish and chips.
Isle of Wight- Can you believe at 26 years’ old that I’ve never been to the Isle of Wight? Well it’s true. With a few British Heritage Sites on the island and beautiful scenery, I’d love to take a day trip/ weekend there and explore what’s on offer.
Belfast- Having only been in Belfast for a mere few hours I want to go back here as much as anything to do the Game of Thrones tours which are available walking you through key areas which were used to film the TV series.
Canterbury- Another place which really isn’t all that far from me but I’ve never been. The cathedral in the city looks absolutely stunning and I’d love to walk the cobbled streets and explore the city.
Go Ape- I have been saying every single year that I want to go to Go Ape but I am determined to make it happen in the next few years. I have done quite a few obstacle runs so I think this will be a similar fun experience.
Sleepover at the Natural History Museum- I’ve seen these advertised for years and have always thought it sounded like an amazing experience. I love the Natural History Museum and you always get talks from professors and awesome people and you get a slap up meal. It might be pricy but it’s something I’d love to do.
Scuba Dive outside the UK- I’m determined to get my PADI this year and therefore an experience I’d love to have is to scuba dive outside of the UK. In Hawaii I think I’ll only be snorkeling but with various holidays and plans I’d love to go into some clear blue sea’s and explore the underwater world.
Have a spa weekend- I’ve had a massage and visited a salon for a few treatments but I’d love to have a full blown spa weekend and stay in a plush fancy hotel with yummy food and get pampered all weekend. I’d love to have a massage, a facial, and a body scrub then spend hours relaxing in hot tubs and swimming pools.
See Taylor Swift live- I am not afraid to admit how much I love Taylor and I would absolutely love to see her live. I was gutted that I missed out seeing her on her last tour and again at Hyde Park a while back but I am determined that next time she announces a tour I will be there.
Go to Comic con- I don’t know how I have got almost 27 years’ and have never been to comic con before considering my love for geeky/ nerdy stuff. I really want to go and properly dress up and go all out for it.
Go to a wedding- Other than one when I was about a year old I have never been to a wedding which I think is crazy. This is a slight cheat as I have two friends’ weddings next year although one is just the reception and the other one isn’t going to a traditional Western wedding, but I really just want to experience a ceremony, tear up at how beautiful everyone looks and get to experience someone’s’ happy day.
Learn to surf– Now I know I won’t ever properly be able to surf as I do not have the coordination for that but just attempting it will be enough for me. I don’t really mind if this is an experience that’s on the coast in the UK or abroad, although the later would be nicer as it would be warmer.
Ride a motorcycle- I have never been on the back of a motorcycle and while the idea scares me a little as I have no co-ordination and would probably scream the first time it moved I’d love to experience being so open.
Do a street art tour- There are loads of these around London and they’ve always appealed but I’ve never done one myself. I don’t even know where the best graffiti in London is, so this is definitely something I want to experience.
