I remember during previous years’ I’d always struggle with my top album choices and be sat almost forcing myself to like things for after a few listens, in a complete 360 2016 was a great year for music and I struggled to condense down my list. For me I think 2016 was a huge year for rock music because it saw so many bands come back with new music like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Sum 41, but also saw plenty of new and upcoming bands release their strongly awaited sophomore albums.
Some of you might know that I edit a music website called Mosh and every year I do my top albums of the year post which you can view in full here. But I thought I’d do a mini run-down on my blog because it was such a strong year.
For me the new Good Charlotte album was the biggest standout and sat at my number one spot. I spent a lot of my childhood listening to this band and their music shaped a lot of the rest of the music I listened to. One of my favourite bands Bury Tomorrow came in second with ‘Earthbound’ an album I almost forgot came out in 2016. The rest of my top 10 was taken up with a mixture of some of my long time favourite bands albums such as A Day To Remember and ‘Good Vibrations’, Architects ‘All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us’, and Biffy Clyro’s ‘Ellipsis’, the amazing sophomore album from Issues, and the new Blink 182 album which I warmed to far more than I thought I would. Other bands which made up the rest of my top ten were Emarosa, Beartooth and Panic At The Disco who all released great albums in 2016.
It didn’t stop there though when I got to ten I realized there were still some other great new albums which came out from bands such as Billy Talent, Dance Gavin Dance, Green Day, Modern Baseball, Pierce The Veil, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Set It Off and more.
