After 10 days or so off from blogging it’s time to come back and make 2017 an epic year. As we’ve waved goodbye to 2016 and welcomed 2017 into our hearts after a few weeks of mass chocolate and alcohol consumption it’s time to look back on some of the ways that 2016 was in fact pretty awesome. Yes, there were a lot of political stuff which crapped over 2016 but it’s all about the smaller things in life right?
This was almost certainly one of the best things to come out of 2016 in terms of entertainment right?! The Netflix exclusive show was so hyped up that it took me a good few months to give in and watch and it and my god am I glad that I did. It was so well produced and the kids were just incredible, genuinely such an awesome collection of people. I am very intrigued to see the direction they go with Season 2.
2016 was a fantastic year for Marvel with Deadpool, Civil War and Doctor Strange which were three incredible movies. Deadpool was such a funny movie and so lighthearted, Civil War was badass and includes one of my favourite ever fight scenes (the airport one of course) and Doctor Strange was visually incredible and really warmed me to Mr Cumberbatch.
2016 saw me head out my first ever solo trips including joining a group of strangers over New Year in Morocco, heading to Edinburgh for the first time completely solo, flying out to New York on my own (although I spent quite a bit of time with my friend) and headed to Copenhagen for a weekend on my own as well. Solo traveling is so liberating and something I hope to do more of.
2016 saw me pretty much purchase all of the liquid lipsticks I own (which is quite a few), you can see my obsession here. And I definitely feel like having these has seen my look change as I used to hold off on lipstick sometimes as it would wear off so quickly that I’d give up.
For me 2016 was a great year for my blog as I started building my following, increasing in DA and getting more brands wanting to work together. This Christmas was the best for me in regards to my gift guides which went out every week from mid-October and saw me working with a lot of brands, quite a few of which I had heard of before.
2016 was the year I created my bullet journal and while it isn’t as pretty or as creative as most of the ones I see on Instagram mine has been a huge help. I don’t use it for daily to-do lists but when it comes to keeping lists, checking off things, blogging stats, to watch movies and my general diary it has been a godsend and means I don’t have to carry around a diary and a notebook alongside having various phone notes and Google Doc spreadsheets.
