I’m not much of a party animal, gone are the days of going out and getting drunk in a local club most weekends. That being said if I do out for a special occasion it’s always nice to make an effort as my general everyday look is very casual and it’s rare you’ll find me in anything nicer than a pair of skinny jeans and some vans. For me I’ve always struggled to find the perfect going out dress, what looks beautiful on the rails or on the models in the shops can look the total opposite when I try it on, especially as I’m not a stick thin size 8. Where I live in Watford there aren’t a huge amount of choices when it comes to going out clothes but one of my go to places to explore is always Quiz. The sparkles and glitter always draw me in and I have had a few beautiful dresses from there in the past, including one which I bought which I never quite fit into (one day I promise).
With a few weddings’ coming up this year and some special occasions and birthdays’ I thought it was about time I made up a going out dress wishlist so I know exactly the kind of things I’m looking for, which you can see above. There’s pretty much a theme going on and yes I know they’re all reasonably dark (although only one is actually black) this is just what I feel more comfortable in. I love the flowing bottoms of the dress on the far left which has a cream top and a black bottom, a good compromise, but the navy and floral top left dress is absolutely stunning and I could imagine it being perfect for a wedding.
Next up on the top row is a very similar navy and floral dress but this is a skater version with a higher neck because sometimes it’s appropriate to be a bit more covered up. On the far right we have the brightest of all the dresses which is a mid-calf bodycon dress and while it’s floral it does have a navy edging to it. On the bottom row there’s a beautiful black lace dress which I love because it has that little poof out, although I don’t always find them flattering on me, and finally a white and navy patterned mid-calf bodycon dress, yes again I’m a creature of habit.
