A few weekends’ ago I had an afternoon free before meeting some friends for dinner and a gig so I decided to head into London to have some retail therapy. I do go to Oxford Street on occassions but usually it’s a quick visit for a particular shop or to pick up an order, so this time I gave myself about three hours and some ideas of shops I wanted to head to.
First up it was the beauty department of Selfridges because a London shopping trip just isn’t complete without heading here. To begin with I went to their NYX stand as I know the one in my Boots store is unstocked and just messy and I wanted some White Foundation Mixer to lighten some dark foundations I have. The stand was so tidy that I found what I was looking for in seconds. Next up I went to check out the Zoeva palettes. I have wanted a Zoeva palette for ages but I hate buying things online that I haven’t had a chance to try out/ swatch before hand. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but as soon as I saw the Rose Golden palette my decision had been made as the shades were shimmery and I knew other than the one super dark one I’d make use of them all. While I was there I got colour matched for the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, sadly they didn’t have any samples to take away and I didn’t want to make that impulsive a decision so I walked away with the shade details.
Next stop was Debenhams’ as I knew I wanted to check out the Too Faced stand for a brown liquid lipstick. Few brands have a large brown selection, generally, they’re all nude’s but with a Melted Matte Chocolate range I knew I’d probably find something there. I was right of course and after swatching so many on my hand it looked like a dodgy tan I settled on X. I also got colour matched for the Urban Decay Naked Foundation while I was there but again they didn’t have any samples. I was tempted to buy it there and then because I know how much I love the concealer but after asking for a sample the girl got really rude and I decided if I was going to buy it it wouldn’t be then.
After this I headed to a few lifestyle stores including Urban Outfitters and Oliver Bonas, neither of wish I have locally. Online I’d seen a beautiful gold marble frame in Urban Outfitters but it was on sale so I doubted I would find it but shockingly I found it as soon as I walked in so of course this made its way into my basket alongside a beautiful rose gold moon ornament. I am in the middle of getting some shelves done in my living room which will have a rose gold theme so this will look great on there. In Oliver Bonas I picked up a small rose gold geo photo holder again to keep for my shelf and this beautiful blue and green trinket dish. I don’t actually want to use this as a dish and instead I want to find a way of standing it up so I’ll be browsing around for little stands soon.
That concludes my mini London haul but it was so lovely to just wonder around shops and not feel rushed, plus being a Sunday shops were a lot quieter than I usually find.
