As a blogger myself one of the things I spend a lot of time doing is reading other people’s blogs. I use Bloglovin for most of my blog reading and go through my feed to see new posts by those I follow but I also tend to search through genre’s to find new posts to read especially lifestyle, beauty and travel as they’re the three areas that interest me the most. I find that the type of posts which draw me in always tend to be fairly similar and sometimes (especially around Lush launch times) I read very similar blog posts ten times over, but I never get sick of them. Here are 6 of the types of posts which I love reading most.
Who doesn’t love a blooming good Lush haul?! Yes around Halloween and Christmas (the best launches) there are usually millions of blog posts all with the same products, saying the same things but you know what I keep reading them. Lush is one of my favourite stores and I always tend to pretty much buy everything when they launch new ranges so it’s great to hear what other bloggers say about the items. I love doing my own lush hauls so here are the last few I’ve done. Halloween/ Hair Care/ More than just bath bombs
New York Travel Posts
My love for New York is bordering on obsessive, even after a few months’ of being home I itched to go again and I absolutely love reading other bloggers experiences in my favourite city including what they did, where they ate and what they brought. Reading these posts usually just reminds me how much fun I have every time I go and how much I love the city, but occasionally someone will have done something/ gone somewhere I haven’t and it helps to add it on to my future wishlist. When I came back this summer I did two photo galleries which you can see here and here. But I also did a food based diary, my experiences’ on Warped Tour, Beauty spots to check out, tips to survive the city and why you’ll fall in love with the city. Obsessed much?!
Sephora is my complete obsession, well the American Sephora is. Yes the European ones are pretty awesome as their own brand collections are great and selected countries have Anastasia Beverley Hills but the American stores are where it’s at. I absolutely love reading people’s Sephora hauls and get fascinated by the products and delights that people buy when they’re away. It’s great for getting opinions on products and finding out about new things I should try (not that I need more things to add to my wishlist). I had a huge stupid sized Sephora haul when I was in New York which you can read about here. I then did a top picks post shortly after.
It doesn’t really matter the subject of people’s wishlists, I’ll read them, although beauty and homeware seem to be the ones I gravitate more towards. I love finding new stores/ websites that people like to shop in but I’ve never really explored and it gives me ideas for things to get for myself/ presents for others. I don’t tend to do a huge amount of wishlist posts although I did one for Christmas, one before I went to New York and another latest beauty one.
Makeup Storage Posts
I am completely obsessed with makeup storage posts and seeing how people arrange their makeup from the Ikea drawer systems to Muji and other acrylic drawers. I have gone through a lot of makeup storage myself and I am still not 100% happy with my setup (although I’m closer than I’ve ever been). This is simply because I have too much makeup and even after clear outs I just need more space. I have only done one proper post on my makeup storage set up but you can view it here.
Homeware Haul Posts
Another type of post which I absolutely love are homeware hauls, this could be from Primark, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Oliver Bonas, you name it and I’m obsessed. Having my own flat means I buy quite a lot of homeware from kitchen items and storage boxes to candles and cushions so I love seeing what others have bought, especially as I am super nosy. You can see a Primark haul I did and a Halloween haul I did. This is the type of post I want to up on my own blog but I never remember to take images of things before using them #bloggerproblems
What I got for Christmas/ Birthday Posts
I am the nosiest bugger ever and absolutely love reading posts about what people got bought for Christmas/ Birthdays. I found myself trawling Bloglovin searching for these posts for days after Christmas and probably read through about 40+ of these. I am completely addicted despite the fact that I have never done one of these posts myself. Some people have issues with these types of posts as being ‘braggy’ and I would hate for someone to think of me like that (especially as I know full well my family go overboard and I get spoilt), but they are one of my favourite things to read.
