Blusher is definitely one of my favourite items in my makeup routine as due to having slightly pale skin a swipe of colour makes me look more alive and healthy. 2016 was a great year for me to try out new brands and work out exactly what I wanted when it came to shades as previously I’d stick to ones so light that they barely showed up for fear of looking like a clown, but even the darkest of blush can suit paler skins if swiped with caution. Here are some of my ultimate top picks.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure
I only bought my first Hourglass blush when I was in New York last summer and I can honestly say they are one of my favourites. The ombre colour means nothing comes out too dark or too over the top and the plum colour of mood exposure is so pretty even I can pull it off. Everything about this blush is beautiful from the decent packaging to the way it swipes on and it’s longevity. I am definitely going to be investing in more hourglass blushers once I get the chance to swipe some at a Space NK store.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Blush in Glisten
I’d heard so many great things about Tarte blushers not just in the blogging world but everywhere so I picked up my first one again in the States and I can agree with the hype. Glisten is a stunning shimmery peachy pink with just a little sparkle lurking without being too over the top. I find during the day I can wear this without highlighter and in the evening I can wear this alongside it and both ways look stunning. I always kept away from peach tones because orange doesn’t suit my skin but this is so subtle and the pink blends it out.
Nars Blush in Unlawful and Deep Throat
I couldn’t just pick one Nars blush shade from my collection (which also includes the iconic Orgasm) but settled on unlawful and deep throat. I love the Nars’ blushes so much and for the price I don’t think you can go wrong as the size is decent, the packaging feels solid and you get a mirror inside the compact. Deep Throat is your standard warm coral but it has a slightly pearl finish to it so it’s slightly sheer which I find is good on pale skin so it doesn’t look too heavy. Unlawful is probably my favourite but it’s more of an evening/ day out kinda shade than your run of the mile going to work shade. It’s a muted rosy-brown which is quite warm in tone but has silver shimmers and sparkles running through it so much so a lot of the time I don’t even feel like I need to wear highlighter. When the sales assistant in Selfridges showed me this for the first time I knew I had to have it before it even made it onto my face.
