You wouldn’t believe it but I have been very restrained over the past few months’ and haven’t bought as many beauty products as I normally would have, I’ve been really thinking to myself whether it’s something that I need and something I’d get enough use out of. Because of this I have been trying to make more informed decisions on what to buy so here are some of my top new beauty purchases from the first two months’ of 2017.
Zoeva Rose Golden Eyeshadow Palette
I have been lusted over the Zoeva palette’s for ages but I don’t really like buying shadow palettes online without having swatched them so it took a while to finally find them. On a recent trip to Selfridges I hunted down the stand and as soon as I saw the Rose Golden set I knew my decision had been made. There are ten shades within the palette and in all honesty there’s only one I probably won’t use (the darkest shade) but this is quite unusual in a palette as usually I rule out 3/4 of them. The shades within this are a mixture of rose golden’s and smoky golden shades and almost all of them are shimmer shades which I absolutely love as it’s quite a change from my standard neutral matte palettes. The shades are creamy and easy to blend and there’s virtually no fall out with them either *hooray*. Having had this for about a month this is pretty much always the palette I pick up as every single shade is beautiful and they’re so long-lasting, even after applying them at 830am they’re still going strong at 6pm when I’m home from work.
BH Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette
Going completely against my previous statement about wanting to swatch eyeshadow palette’s before buying them I actually bought the BH palette on a complete whim from Beauty Bay as I saw it and couldn’t stop thinking about it. With four neutral shadow shades and four highlighters’ it seemed a little different than anything in my collection. It was designed by Carli Bydel whose apparently a YouTuber although I haven’t heard of her before. The palette itself is a really good size for the price and the shades are stunning with a mixture of shimmer and matte’s in varying shades of brown *my favourites*. The highlighters range from a light champagne tone through to a brown which appears more like a bronzer on my pale skin, but a great mixture. While I love this palette there is a lot of fall out from the shadows themselves so I have to be really careful when I am applying them.
Too Faced Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipstick in Chocolate Honey
Lipsticks are probably my number one makeup product and the thing I own the most of, especially liquid lipsticks. I loved the melted matte liquid lipstick from their range that I had so I went on a hunt for a brown shade which I knew I’d find in the melted chocolate range. Chocolate honey is a dark nude/ mid tone brown which looks slightly glossy/ shimmery which is really unusual for a liquid lipstick, especially as isn’t sticky or tacky as you’d expect it be. I’m still not sure how I feel about the application not being the standard doe foot applicator but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. One thing I’ve found with the Too Faced liquid lipsticks is how nourishing they are, they are far from drying and the colour has pretty good staying power.
Tangle Angel Brush*
My hair gets really knotted and until a few years’ ago I’d always battled with a normal comb/ hair brush and just accepted my fate but with so many brushes specifically for tangled and knotty hair I’ve tried my fair share. Ever since this beautiful pink angel winging tangle brush from Tangle Angel came through my letterbox I have been addicted, it’s so good as it removes the knots in my hair both pre-washing when it’s dry but also when I’ve come out of the shower and it’s soaking wet. The great thing is it doesn’t drag my hair or pull it and I’m not finding I’m malting as much during brushing like I have with some other tangle brushes. I’m so happy that this not only does the job but looks super pretty sitting on my dressing table.
Kat Von D Lock It Concealer
I have loved Kat Von D cosmetics ever since I first got one of her studded lipsticks on a trip to the States a few years’ ago but until recently I didn’t venture outside of her lip ranges (about 4 lipsticks and 8 liquid lipsticks on last count). I really wanted to try the Lock it Foundation but I still had a few others’ to get through so thought I’d go for the concealer. I swatched this and colour matched myself because all the staff in the Oxford Street Debenhams store are always busy but I am pretty confident I got the right shade. This is a pretty full coverage concealer so it’s perfect for those days when my skin doesn’t feel overly dehydrated but my eyes look dark (which is quite a lot of the time). I love how easy this is to blend, especially with the Kat Von D concealer brush which I couldn’t recommend enough. It’s really long lasting and as it’s a little thicker than some other concealers I don’t feel that I need to lock it in with powder or anything. I am so happy I picked this up and still can’t wait to try out the foundation.
