Wish Upon Your Own Personalized Star

Wish Upon Your Own Personalized Star

I’ve always been fascinated by astrology, especially the stars and the night sky. I remember when I was in Morocco over New Year 2015-16 we were camped out in the Sahara Desert and the sky was so clear that people had brought their binoculars to have a closer look at the stars and loads of people had an idea about constellations, pointing them out as I stood there in awe. As soon as I got back I bought a book about stars, although like most things due to life I’ve not yet got round to reading it. One day this will change!

My parents’ are celebrating their anniversary next month – 29 years’ – so when the Star Name Registry contacted me and asked if I wanted to name my own star I jumped at the chance and decided to dedicate it to my parents. My parents are a huge part of my life and two people who I truly rely on. Having never moved away for university or work I’ve always been within a 10-minute drive from my parents’ and they’re like the right-hand people to my life so I knew something special, thoughtful and unique like this would be the perfect gift.

Extra Bright Star

The Star Name Registry allow you the chance to name a star which is visible in the UK for someone special and you only need to fill in a quick form online before the star is registered to you and your documents sent. The idea that if you looked at the right time and in the right area you could see your star is such an awesome concept, especially as it’s visible from the UK. Your star is registered within 24 hours’ and no one else can pick the same star so it’s totally unique to you.

The packages start out at just £14.99 but you can choose different gift sets including certificates in silver frame’s, boxed and wonderfully presented. I was lucky enough to get the Extra Bright Star gift* set which includes entry into the registry, An A4 Star Name Deed, A Sky Atlas Star Map to show where your star is,  Confirmation letter, an A4 Silver certificated frame surrounded by tissue paper in a large silver presentation box, and there’s also details to explain your gift set. Quite a lot of bang for your buck.

Sky Atlas

To begin with, I had to choose a name for my star which was my parent’s names and then I chose a memorable date to print on there which was their wedding date. Next up it was choosing which constellation to put my star in. You can find out via the website exactly what each constellation represents, for example, you can go for remembrance if you’re looking to do one in memory of someone, there’s some which signify friendship, family, new births and much more. I opted for one of the Romance constellations because it’s for their anniversary. You can complete your star with a personalized message to appear on the certificate to make it really unique.

From my point of order, it took just a few days’ to arrive with me and the packaging looked really impressive, perfect for the kind of gift I was looking for. I’m yet to give this to my parents as I’ve got a few weeks until their anniversary but I’m excited for the day to arrive.

I’ve come together with the Star Name Registry to offer one lucky person the chance to win their own Bright Star Gift Set for themselves or to give as a gift to someone else so keep your eyes peeled for a competition post coming very soon! You can enter it right here,

What would you name a star? Or who would you dedicate one to?
