I haven’t had a big makeup haul in a while so last month I treated myself to a few bits from Cult Beauty after finding a cheeky 15% off voucher, a few pounds off is better than nothing. I purchased a bunch of items mainly from brands I’ve never tried before and thought I’d share with you three of the best purchases I made from my order.
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow
This is the only item from a brand I’d already tried and it’s even the second version of the same product I’ve bought. The brand new magnificent metal eyeshadows are by far one of the best items the brand have released but are also one of the best beauty launches of the year so far. I already owned Rose Gold Retro so this time I opted for a more copper look with Bronzed Bell and the colour is absolutely stunning with flecks of copper and silver within. The formula of these are pretty creamy, they glide on really well, there’s no glitter fallout that I have experienced, they don’t sit in the creases of your eyes like a lot of liquid shadows, the colour payout is amazing and they really do last. I hand on heart can’t find a single thing wrong with these other than wishing they did even more colours.
Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip in Gingersnap
I have never tried anything from the Beauty Bakerie before and only came across the brand name after watching a recent Cult Beauty haul video from Zoe London where she raved about the black matte liquid lipstick and how great the staying power was. If a black lipstick has good staying power it says good things about the brand in general so I had a look at the shades and opted for Gingersnap which is a burnt orange/ brown shade and suits me so much better than proper red shades. The first thing I noticed was the slightly bent doe foot applicator which is actually great as it holds better for the application. It takes a minute or two before the product matte’s down so there is a little bit of tack to it, but once it’s dried it’s not budging. My evening consisted of a three-course dinner and the lipstick didn’t even fade, and when it came to taking it off micellar water didn’t manage to do it and I had to revert to my Benefit It’s Real makeup remover which is so strong. I am so impressed with the colour pigmentation and the lasting power of these that I’ll definitely be picking up a few more shades soon.
Jouer Cosmetics Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick – Rose Gold Collection
Of course rose gold is everywhere so why not on your lips too?! I have tried a few metallic liquid lipsticks and they’ve not given a great effect but the Jouer Cosmetics Rose Gold Collection lipstick stood out. It isn’t the most long-lasting liquid lipstick but then again it’s not something which you’re going to wear on a full day out so it doesn’t really need to be. As a lip créme it is weightless and for a metallic shade, I was surprised at how smooth the coverage and application was. The lipstick itself is enriched with Vitamin E and I could feel it as the lipstick wasn’t tacky or drying. This might not be the best liquid lipstick out there but it’s the best metallic look.
