Like a lot of women out there I suffer badly with self-confidence and I’m forever beating myself down about things, be it what I look like, how I’m not working hard enough, or working too much. With self-care being the big thing at the moment I’ve been trying to find more things in live which make me feel better about myself and while we shouldn’t rely on material possessions they can be great to give us a boost and make us feel better. Here are three things which have been making me feel better over recent weeks.
No More Taboo Monthly Hugs Box
Did you know that in the UK women spend over £3,500 on sanitary products and use over 11,00 pads or tampons in their lives which creates over 150kg of landfill waste? This figure in itself really shocked me which is why ‘No More Taboo’ really spoke to me as they sell alternative, sustainable sanitary products and then invest 100% of their profits into charitable projects to help tackle the taboos surrounding menstruation and sanitation.
The monthly hugs box* includes monthly treats to help with your period and includes products from small businesses selected to help with your mind and body, and of course some chocolate. In the box I received there were some organic teas in calming rose and lavender flavours, some coconut and lucuma chocolate, a relaxing sea salt candle, a vegan lemon skin balm and a nutrition guide with summer recipes in.
Knowing that just by getting the box you’re helping others is enough to make me feel better.
Now a lot of women regardless of size will know the pain of chaffing, especially when it’s warm and muggy and how much it can ruin a nice day out because you just can’t walk on. Lots of people talk about creams, oils, and powders which you can rub between your legs but I don’t like the idea of having to top this up when it inevitably runs out as that’s no fun, but this is where Chaffree* come in with this comfortable underwear.
They might just look like girl boxers but they’re the perfect length to cover that annoying bit between your legs which leads to chaffing and thankfully as the material is so soft they’re really comfortable to wear especially for those long days out and about. When I first received my pair I thought that they’d be really warm as they seemed a bit like bicycle shorts but they didn’t leave me feeling warm and sweaty at all.
Under a skirt or floaty dress, these are perfect and you can choose from a range of colours so you can match it to what you’ll wear it with so they won’t stand out. The underwear ranges from size 6 right up to size 36, so it’s not a brand just advertised at plus size woman, they cater for everyone, even men! Grab your pair here!
Xtava Twist Curling Wand
As I’m trying to grow out my fringe I’m finding my hair is getting on my nerves and I am just not happy with the way it looks so anything which can make my hair look better is a godsend to me. I’ve never been one for curling my hair but at a wedding earlier this year a friend curled my hair and I actually loved how it looked so it seemed only right to get my own curling wand* to see if I can replicate the look at home. The answer was kind of. The ceramic barrel of the wand is tapered which means you can use the larger end for beach waves and looser curls and the smaller end for more defined and tighter curls which is a great addition.
The digital temperature control lets you choose between 22 settings and thankfully the smart feature includes a cool tip, if it didn’t I know I’d have burnt myself by now. Despite being just £20 the wand also comes with a swivel cord to make plugging it in easy, a heat-resistant glove in case you’re prone to burning yourself and a travel case.
You can win your own curling wand by entering the competition below. The competition is open to all UK residents and entries must be received by 3rd October. The winner will be contacted directly by the PR sending out the prize. Good luck!
