I think that males – dads in particular – are one of the hardest batches of people to buy for at Christmas. It’s not as easy as a woman who you can go out and buy a pair of earrings or a candle for, men require a lot more thought.
If your dad is anything like mine he doesn’t go out and spend money on himself throughout the year like we would on clothes or a new bag so I like to spoil my dad at Christmas.
Here are some great gift options for your dad, or the man in your life.
Champagne Glasses – £15
Alcohol-based gifts are always a go-to option when I’m thinking of my dad. But it doesn’t always have to be a bottle itself, so these stemless champagne glasses* are absolutely perfect.
There’s something really unique about these glasses with their stemless appearance they look a bit like a large shot glass but they hold really well in the hand and sit down really well even when empty, so they’re not flimsy or light like some champagne/ wine glasses. The vibrant colours under the base really stand out, plus if pink and green aren’t your colours you can opt for orange and blue instead.
Superdry Belt – £30
Recently my dad has lost a lot of weight due to a job change so while he does need new jeans and trousers a belt seemed like a great option and this Superdry Leather Belt* is perfect. My dad is the kind of person who doesn’t usually buy himself branded items and will buy a belt from the local supermarket if he needs one so splurging on a Superdry one will make a perfect Christmas present.
Mainline Menswear are pretty much a one-stop shop when it comes to branded clothing and accessories covering all the brands you can think of like Hugo Boss, Ted Baker, Nike, Armani and more so I’ve had so much inspiration looking around the site.
Storm Bloc Socks – £15.99
Socks are something every man should – and probably does – get for Christmas. But sometimes it can be pretty boring just going for the same old socks, thankfully these Storm Bloc Socks* are way more practical than what you’ll find in your local stores. This pair is incredibly hard wearing with reinforced toe seams and heels and are perfect for the more sporty on the go man. The high strength filament polymers have been engineered to create something unique which has set high benchmarks for durability and wearing resistance.
What’s even better is that all Storm Bloc with BlueGuard socks carry a lifetime guarantee against holes forming so if your dad loves hiking, sports or has a practical job where he’s on his feet in contrasting conditions these would be perfect.
Star Wars Pen and Book – £16 and £15
Now I don’t know about your dad – or any other man in your life -but Star Wars is a big thing, so much so that I’ll be attending the midnight showing of the new movie alongside my boyfriend very soon. So Star Wars related gifts always go down a treat with all those involved so when Sheaffer showed me their Star Wars range I knew we were on for a win.
First up is the A5 Darth Vader lined journal* which is super soft to the touch and comes with a ribbon marker so you always know where you are writing. This is the perfect journal for business meetings and jottings or just to write things down around the house. But you can’t have a journal without a pen which is where the R2D2 Gel Rollerball pen* comes in. There are a few other characters to choose from but I do have a soft spot for R2D2 so this was a great choice. The pen holds gel ink which is easy to buy refills for in most stationary stores and just like you’d expect from Sheaffer it’s smooth to hold and easy to write with.
You can buy the Star Wars Sheaffer collection from John Lewis among other relaters.
Personalised Gardening Gloves – £18.99
Ever since changing jobs my dad has spent far more time out in the garden so when I spotted these personalised gardening gloves* from Born Gifted it didn’t take long for me to decide to grab a pair. The garden gloves are made from leather but they’re so lightweight and breathable that they’re a really comfortable fit and won’t prevent you from gripping or doing anything with them on. The cuff is slightly elasticated so they are a good fit and won’t fall off, something I know my dad will appreciate as he’s got quite small hands.
The badge on the front of the glove can be personalised with whatever name you want up to 12 characters which I thought was really sweet especially with the little welly boots image.
Rose Gold cheese knife set with slate board – £20
My dad is a huge lover of cheese – it’s probably where I get it from – so cheese knives are used a lot within the house so as soon as I saw this Rose gold cheese knife set with a slate board* I knew it was a must buy.
Just like the rest of the world my parents are loving the rose gold trend and have updated a few of their kitchen utensils to rose gold versions so I know they’ll love the look of this set. You get four knives included designed to be used for various different cheeses, and the knives themselves are very solid with a hard wearing titanium plating so that they stay looking great for a long time. The brand even includes a 2-year guarantee with the knives.
Make sure the cheese lover in your life has something super stylish to use.
Mother of Pearl Cufflinks – £24.99
A good pair of cufflinks is always a great gift for a man and something they’re unlikely to buy for themselves unless it’s for a specific event. You can buy loads of novelty cufflinks with cars and bottles on them but this mother of pearl set* is classic and will match with absolutely anything.
Now studs might not be as popular as they once were it’s always good to have them in a set as tuxedo shirts have stud holes next to the button and the decorative fasteners fit into the special slots to really stand out so these are great for special occasions. This set, in particular, is really solid and good quality so there’s no worry about it wearing down.
Magnitone Clean Sweep – £85
Now my dad is probably what you’d describe as a ‘metrosexual’ male and he isn’t afraid to use skincare as he cares what he looks like and as he’s getting older he wants to retain as much of his youth as possible. There are so many cleansing and cleaning brushes out there for ladies I could reel off more than I could count on two hands but the Magnitone Clean Sweep* is the first one I’ve seen specifically for men.
The 30-second cleansing brush is designed to be used daily to keep your skin strong and clear by deep cleansing and exfoliating the skin, and it even works under facial hair. Now my dad shaves quite often but sometimes when he doesn’t he finds that products don’t feel like they’re working as well so now he doesn’t have to worry about this.
If you’re looking for some smaller goodies for your dad the Magnitone skincare collection also includes an energizing face wash* at £9.99 and a resilient moisturiser* at £12. Both products have specifically been designed for men by men and the face wash is a no fuss formula designed to give your skin a surge, and the moisturiser is the ultimate skin protection – especially for the winter months – to calm and soothe the skin and provide 24-hour hydration.
Christian Benedict Three Shirt Subscription – £74.85
Anyone can go out and buy a shirt but how about a subscription which will include three high-quality shirts?! Christian Benedict* have designed a gift that will keep on giving even after December 25th.
To begin with, the first shirt is sent immediately and then 60 days later a new one will arrive, and again another 60 days later. You can choose the first shirt from three core shirts and then you can either leave it to the brand to choose future shirts or the recipient can make the decision himself. You input details of his measurements including collar size, sleeve length, and overall fit. If a shirt gets sent and it’s not to his taste then it can be returned for free.
The shirt I received was a stunning light blue and white striped shirt and firstly the presentation was amazing, the box was very secure for transit and it looked the part when it came through. Quality wise they’re top notch with strong stitching, and they’re easy iron which I think is a great thing as no one loves to iron.
Treat your dad to something stylish with these shirts.
Frapin VSOP Cognac – From £53.45
When it’s a bit cold out there I know my dad likes to sit back and relax with some Cognac and one of the best out there is Frapin VSOP so it’s always going to be my first pick to look at. The cognac dates back to 1270 and currently, Frapin owns their own distillery where the whole production process from vineyard to bottle is done in one place which is amazing as most distilleries will ship elsewhere or bottle or do some of the processes off-site. This is done to ensure the spirit is of the highest quality.
Did you know that it’s suggested to put the decanter of cognac in the freezer before serving as the cold causes the cognac to thicken so the aromas are captured and the sweetness is sealed in?! I had no idea.
This Christmas the cognac is in a brand new sleek looking bottle and there’s a brand new gift box which includes two tulip-shaped Frapin glasses alongside the bottle.
BB8 Christmas Jumper – £20.99
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a jumper would it, and what better to get than a novelty jumper which is both Christmassy but also encompasses a great movie?! This BB8 Star Wars jumper* is perfect for the understated wearer. I wore this jumper to my first Christmas meal of the year which happened to be at the end of November and it was great as I was being festive without being over the top.
The ribbed neck band, cuffs, and waistband make it a very comfortable fit. Fun.com have a whole range of jumpers from the incredibly festive novelty jumpers right through to something a little more understated.
