Last month I did my very first monthly favourites post and I really enjoyed writing about the new things I had discovered and loved so I thought I’d do the same thing each month (at least while I have products to talk about)
I had been meaning to buy the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Cream for absolute ages and finally at the end of January I bought it and I have been absolutely loving using it. I have slightly dry skin so I try to moisturize as often as I can and the new formula is designed to offer longer lasting hydrating, something I really need. I love that the product is a gel formula and not a cream as I find it sinks nicer and quicker into my skin which makes it great for the morning before I put on my make up. When ever I use it I feel like my skin is plumper and my drier patches just disappear.
I’ve used a few sleek products before but never tried their foundations before now mainly because I can be a bit of a brand snob, but I am so glad that I have tried them. Vitality is a light to medium coverage foundation which for me is for those days when I don’t really want to do a full make up look but I don’t like how my skin looks, and the Life Proof is a medium to full coverage foundation, although I don’t find it too full for everyday wear. At the moment with the cold weather my skin is feeling drier than ever so some foundations are clinging to my cheeks and nose but thankfully these aren’t doing that and they actually feel like there’s some hydration in them.
I’m definitely using Life Proof that bit more and thankfully it gives me a really great event coverage and doesn’t sit into the lines on my face, it actually helps to blur them very slightly and being oil-free there’s no forehead shine part way through the day. There’s a fantastic selection of shades as well so there’s bound to be something for everyone.
Everyone seemed to be raving about the Make Up Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer at the end of last year and how it was a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape. Seeing as I’ve wanted to try the Tarte Concealer for ages I decided at just £4 I’d try the Make Up Revolution one and I have been so impressed. Usually the cheaper/ lower end brands just don’t impress me as I’d rather pay more for better quality but this is ridiculously good. It has quite a large wand which I prefer and the consistency is enough to cover by under eye bags without being too heavy. I have never been as impressed with a drug store makeup buy as I have been with this.
I am very much a pen and paper kind of person as opposed to completely relying on technology. I have a physical to do list at work and I couldn’t be without my bullet journal so having pretty notebooks and stationary is a must for me which is why I’ve fallen in love with this goals journal*. It’s a stunning pink leather bound book with 260 plain cream pages with the words ‘Achieve your dream life’ embossed in copper at the bottom of the front cover. It’s it’s such a good quality feel and comes beautifully presented in a box which I can’t bear to leave the notebook out of. I’ve been using the notebook to write down blogging ideas and collaborations and it’s nice to have somewhere to brain dump.
I’m so keen to workout more but going to the gym during these horrible cold dark months really isn’t appealing so I’ve been trying to workout at home which is where AllShapeup has come in so handy. After my registration assessment I was given a schedule for a few weeks of the types of activities I should be doing but with interviews and my impending change of job things have gotten in the way a little so I’ve not managed to stick entirely to my schedule but I will get into it more. The great thing about the website is there are so many videos you can watch and workout to and they cover all abilities from beginner through the intermediate and expert which means you can develop as you go. I’ve been doing some of the HIIT workouts as they’re fast paced and don’t usually take more than 20 minutes and I’m loving the ability to work from home. There’s so much more to AllShapeup with recipes and nutritional information as well so it’s a great wealth of information.
Another favourite this month is a pretty boring one and that’s comparison websites as I’ve had not just my home and travel insurance up for renewal in the past month but I’ve also been looking at new Broadband deals to try and save money. Blogging and doing freelance work I need to always make sure I have fast and reliable broadband and as my boyfriend is with Vodaphone for his mobile contract I’ve been debating going with them so I have the Vodaphone Broadland contact details ready and waiting for me to call them.
You all know how much I love candles and anything which is a little it unusual is right up my street. If you love dragons or want to become your own Mother (or father) of Dragons then you need this hatching dragon candle*. When you melt away the scaly wax egg insie there’s a porcelain dragon all of which are a different colour and I can’t wait to find out what colour mine will be.
Whether you’re a game of thrones fan, a fan of mythological creatures or are just curious at what could be waiting outside you need this candle in your life.
The final thing I’ve been loving in February is a TV show on Amazon Prime called ‘The Bold Type’. It’s a 10 episode series based around the lives of three girls who all work for a magazine called Scarlet in New York and it’s seriously good. It was inspired by the life of Cosmopolitian editor-in-chief Joanna Coles and follows the three girls in their lives at the magazine both professionally and personally. The episodes are around 45 minutes long and have been perfect for me to have on in the mornings before work while I’m browsing social media and replying to e-mails.
