I first heard of IGK after reading a post by Zoe London who is a blogger I implicitly trust so when I saw her shouting from the rooftops about how great the brand was I knew I had to add them to my list of brands to check out when I hit up Sephora on my trip to New York.
Thankfully though just a month or so after discovering them the brand launched in Space NK which meant that I could nab a few items over here and not have to worry about using up more dreaded luggage space during our trip.
I picked up three products from Space NK when they had a great deal on which meant that they didn’t cost me any more than they would have if I’d bought them in the States.
The first thing I picked up was the travel size First Class Dry Shamoo which is a Charcoal Detox spray. As I’ve moved from washing my hair every day to every other I do find that my hair gets greasy quicker than most people’s and while it gets used to being washed less often so dry shampoo is a must.
The great thing about this Charcoal spray is that despite it being billed as a heavy-duty dry shampoo it actually feels really light in my hair and doesn’t leave a white residue like a lot of dry shampoos so this is particularly good for those with darker/ coloured hair.
It does everything you want a dry shampoo to do and soaks up all the excess oil in the hair lifting the dirt up and out, and it lasts pretty much all day.
I am always on the look out for good quality shampoo’s and conditioner’s as I spent too long using the cheap own brand one’s which just weren’t right for my hair. In my mind if you spend the money on good skincare and makeup why not do the same to your hair?!
There’s 3 or 4 different collections of the duo but I went for Hot Girls which is the hydrating duo as I sometimes find my hair can feel a little dry especially as I use a hairdryer. The great thing about this shampoo is even if you use it without conditioner I still find that my hair feels silkier than it does when I use other shampoo’s and you can definitely feel the hydration and liquid within it. This is the Vitamin E at work which conditions the hair and leaves it looking shiny and lustrous.
The shampoo has litchi extract which is designed to help product your hair from pollution damage and while I have no idea how to test if this is working it’s good to know that there’s plenty in there to help protect my hair, even UV protection!
The matching conditioner is of course the perfect match which adds even more moisture to my hair which leaves it so smooth even after I’ve blasted it with my hairdryer, something a lot of conditioners can’t last through.
Alongside a lot of the same vitamins and extracts as the shampoo which are designed to protect hair and seal in moisture it also has shea butter which is designed to lock in moisture without leaving the hair greasy, something I really need. I do find that my hair looks very slighly less greasy on day 2 when I use this duo combition than when I use other shampoo’s and conditioners.
The final item I picked up was in Sephora as I’d started seeing it in peoples YouTube video hauls and blog posts so I thought I’d give it a try especially as you only have to leave it on your hair for 2-3 minutes before washing out. A lot of these conditioning treatments/ top coats which require half an hour to sit on your hair all sound good but for me just aren’t practical.
The topcoat acts like the topcoat you put on your nails and protects your hair like a shield to nourish, strength and add a bit of depth to the colour. You do have to use quite a bit if you have thicker hair like me so I don’t use it all the time as I’d finish the bottle too quickly, but if I know I’m going out or have something planned where I want to look really nice I slather my hair in this and know I’ll have that extra shine.
