Things Which Run Through My Head Whilst At A Gig

November 18, 2016

Pretty much anyone who has read my blog before with know how much I love live music shows. At this time of year it’s usually 1-2 a week, sometimes more and sometimes less. One night I might be a large Camden venue on my own reviewing a show, another time I might be with a group of friends stood in the audience in a dingy pub, and others I might be stood in an arena snapping away on my camera. While every single live music experience is different depending on the band, the tracks, the venue, and the crowd there are certain things which always run the same regardless of the situation. Here are some of the things which run through my head when I’m at a show:

“Thank god I don’t have to stand in that queue and can run to the box office”

“Damm how is the guest list queue as long as the normal queue”

“R-H-I-A-N. Yes I am on the list, I can see my name. No, I didn’t say Leanne”

“How is it minus ten degrees outside yet a million degrees inside”

“I am not spending half an hour queuing for the cloakroom to give £2 to someone to hold my jacket”

“How did I just miss the first band? That’s right I was outside for twenty minutes”

“Now just half an hour to wait for the next band”

“Hang on a minute that guy/girl looks familiar”

“Must stop staring at them I might look like a physio”

“Why did I bring my normal sized bag with me? I don’t want to put it on the floor as it feels sticky”

“Must look at Setlist.fm and find out if they’re playing that big song I know”

“Oh I don’t know the last two songs so maybe I can squeeze out before the show finishes and avoid the crowds”

“The band haven’t even come on yet and I’m already thinking about going home”

“Shall I get a drink? But then I’ll lose the spot I saved. Plus do I want to spend six pounds on a pint?”

“Yay, the lights have dimmed it must be time”

“Why has my spot turned into the whole venues walkway?”

“Where did all these people come from? I might look gentle but I will elbow you if you try to push in front of me”

“How does everyone know the words to this song? I don’t even recognize it”

“Am I getting old or does everyone here look about sixteen?”

“Wow the lead singer is actually pretty hot. Shit can I think that he’s five years younger than me…..”

“Yay, my favourite song. And pretty much the only one I know well enough to sing so I’ll scream it out”

“Is it home time yet?”

Hahaha, I feel the same with a lot of these! Another one for me is “Can we have a song which requires the audience to sit down? My feet are killing!”

Gosh, it’s a long time since I’ve been to a gig, I really should go soon 🙂

Hahaha! My mummy totally relates to that list! Funny when you think everyone else looks 16! 😉

Ha! Brilliant! I can really relate to all that, especially the bag thing. Why oh why do I always bring my normal bag every time I go to a gig rather than a tiny one?

Haha, love this! Especially the bit about the spot you choose becoming everyone else’s walkway. That always happens to me, I sometimes feel like I must look like a pushover but I think it has more to do with my terrible judgement of where to stand! x

This is such a good post and I can relate to all of these points!

Ha I am sure the number of people who call you Leanne gets annoying after a while x

Haha, whenever I go out ‘clubbing’ now I feel like everyone around me is about 16! I feel you on that one! xo

I miss going out to gigs. I live so remotely that it’s an expensive ordeal to go somewhere, and pay for accommodation. I mind some of these phrases going through my head too, way back when!

haha these made me giggle, and they’re so relateable. the last on the list is probably one of the worst thoughts though especially if you have to stand for the whole gig! x

Am I the only person who has never been to a gig? I did take my mum to a Cliff Richard concert a few years ago but I don’t think that counts!
