I’ve been throwing around ideas on how to have a music news section of my website and for the time being I’ve decided to do it in this style where I can just add in music news quickly and easily without having to worry about seperate posts each time. When you’re reading this the newer stuff will be at the top.
Download Festival have announced their 2019 headliners
Download Festival have announced 2019’s festival headliners as Def Leppard, Tool and Slipknot alongside seventeen additional bands including Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Whitesnake, Skindred and The Amity Affliction.
Def Leppard’s appearance will be their only UK one in 2019 and they’ll be playing ‘Hysteria’ in full. Frontman Joe Elliot said: “We are delighted to be going back to headline Download in 2019! The festival has a very special place in our hearts and it’s such a great place to play. We will be playing Hysteria in full – yes, in full! – plus a load more of the hits, and we are going to put on a very special show for our UK fans. Can’t wait to see you all there!”
Slipknot, to be honest, was a surprise to me as they’ve headlined the festival so many times over the past decade but it’s sure to be an amazing show. And Tool are set to headline Download Festival for the very first time.
Bring Me The Horizon release the second track from their upcoming album
We’ve been treated to the second track from Bring Me’s upcoming album ‘Amo’ and it’s called ‘A Wonderful Life’ ft Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth. I have to admit the lyrics are a little humorous but overall it’s a pretty good track and I know it will grow on me like ‘Mantra’ did.
You can watch the video for the track here. The Release date for ‘Amo’ has moved slightly and it’s due out on 25th January now but they’ve announced the full track listing with a few more artists set to feature with the band. I’m really excited to catch the band in November and hear how everything sounds live.
Basement have shared a brand new track
Basement have shared a brand new track called ‘Be Here Now’ which comes from their new album ‘Beside Myself’ which came out on 12th October via Warner Bros. Records.
“‘Be Here Now’ is about how hard I find it to feel content with what I’m doing, when I’m doing it,” explains vocalist Andrew Fisher. “I over-romanticize the past and the future, remembering what has been and looking forward to what will be, in a completely irrational and unfair way.”
Basement are on tour in the US during October and then they’re back to the UK touring with Joyce Manor.
Asking Alexandria have released an acoustic version of ‘Alone In A Room’
Asking Alexandria have released a stripped down acoustic version of their 3rd top ten US radio hit, ‘Alone In A Room’. The track is the second single to be taken from the band’s 5th studio album and has racked up a massive 13.7 million streams on Spotify and 5 million YouTube videos.
Ben Bruce says: “In celebration of Alone in a Room smashing into the top 10 at radio this week we decided to record a video for our acoustic rendition of AIAR! This has been such an incredible album cycle for us so far and we have barely even started! Thank you all so much for your love and support. This is for us, this is for you! We love you!”
Good Charlotte have released a new single
Ahead of their impending seventh studio album ‘Generation RX’ which comes out on 14th September, Good Charlotte released ‘Prayers’, a brand new single from the album. You can stream and download the track here. The track will see it’s television debut on CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden on 13th September ahead of the album release.
You can listen to ‘Prayers’ on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play. And if like me you’re a bit obsessed with Good Charlotte they return to The UK and Europe from 1st February 2019 including a show at Alexandra Palace.
Fangclub reveal video for ‘High’
Fangclub released their EP ‘True Love’ earlier this summer through Vertigo Records and they’ve just released a video for ‘High’. The video itself was shot and directed in just 6 hours by Nathan Barlow and you can give it a watch below.
Frontman Steven King said “I wrote High while on tour with The Cribs. I think they influenced my writing on this from a visceral standpoint. It’s a little more 70s in parts.”.
Alkaline trio release new track ‘Demon and Divison’ ahead of their new album out on Friday

Panic! At The Disco have released a new video for ‘High Hopes’
Fresh from their headline sets at Reading & Leeds festival last weekend, Panic! At The Disco have released a new video for ‘High Hopes’, a track from recent album‘Pray For The Wicked’. Somehow I only gave this album a listen in the past week and I absolutely love it, particularly this track.
The band announced a tour in support of the album arriving in the UK on 24th March 2019 in Glasgow and ending on 30th March in Manchester with dates in Cardiff, Birmingham and London alongside.

The Fever 333 release a video for ‘Made An America’
Ever since first seeing The Fever 333 at Download Festival earlier this year I have been a touch obsessed with Jason Butler’s new band. Their tracks are so catchy but have such depth to them and the bands passion is second to none.
‘Made An America’ is the title track from the bands EP of the same name which you can listen to on all streaming services, but in the meantime check out the video below.
The video itself is shot in black and white and was directed by frontman Jason who said
“I am not afraid to talk about the truth anymore. I am not threatened by the ignorance that allowed us to push a very problematic history aside. There is no more reason for me to be compliant through silence, and there is absolutely no room for such silence in art. If you feel challenged by the idea of this video, I would encourage you to ask yourself ‘why?’ Then you can feel free to ask me or the other members of this project. This video was an attempt to offer representation to gravely underrepresented, and ironically prevalent, faction in both music and society. This is an acknowledgment of those whose bodies were exploited in the name of power. The beautiful bodies and souls that have been taken from time and time again to serve the interests of someone else with no regard for their own existence or advancement. America has provided examples of this for millennia, by make no mistake, we are not the only ones. My hope here is that people understand that by challenging these clearly damaging practices against people, we- the people, can observe the power that we possess when we move in solidarity. Integration, both voluntary and forcefully, sits at the foundation of our success and our failures as a people. Lest we forget, there is no power without the people, therefore all power lies within all people. We built this mother fucker.”
If you haven’t yet checked out the band I urge you to.
Bring Me The Horizon announce a quadruple whammy of new music, a video, an album and a tour
It’s been all go for Bring Me and I have to admit I am so excited because it feels like the guys have been away for a long time. Last Tuesday (21st) their new track ‘Mantra’ was played on BBC Radio 1 for the first time and although it took me a whole day before I heard it I absolutely love it and I feel the direction is right for the guys and they’re pushing themselves in the right away.
This announcement came at the same time as the album announcement. Their next studio album ‘Amo’ is due out on 11th January so it’s going to be like a birthday present to myself. Later that week they announced a UK tour including two shows at London’s Alexandra Palace for November which is going to be amazing, although I’m still debating how many shows I can justify doing while I’m trying to save money so I’m thinking 3 at the moment. Then came the video for ‘Mantra’ which is incredibly trippy but also so cool. You can give it a watch below:
