Have you ever considered a camping holiday?

Like many people, you might turn your nose up at the idea. With thoughts of roughing it out in the wild, dealing with bugs and beasties, and sleeping in a tent that contains none of the luxuries you could get in a hotel, you might decide that a camping holiday isn’t for you.

#1: You can save money

With a camping holiday, you don’t have to spend a fortune on accommodation. And if you’re staying in your own country, you don’t need to pay for a flight, either. Tents are relatively inexpensive to buy, and because you will have to do your own cooking if you’re camping somewhere remote, you won’t have to put a dent in your bank account through eating at a restaurant every night. You will be able to reduce impulse spending too, as while you might find the occasional shop for food and outdoor living, you won’t be tempted by the massive shopping complexes that could whittle away your money.

#2: You can have fun

Camping holidays are fun! There are all kinds of activities you might get the opportunity to take part in, including rock climbing, canoeing, geocaching, swimming, and horse riding. It depends where you pitch your tent, of course, but if you choose a place that has organised activities happening nearby, then you will be able to take full advantage of them. And even if there aren’t any activities nearby, you can make your own fun by exploring the landscapes around you, and playing games with your family or friends in the wide-open spaces available to you.

#3: You can look good

Sure, you might get a little muddy when on your camping holiday. And you might not get the opportunity to wear your summer dresses or bikinis. But hey, at least you will get the opportunity to wear countryside fashion, from sheepskin jackets and woolly jumpers to beanie hats and colourful wellies. Just take a look at the fabulous offerings being sold by Glencroft Countrywear for an idea of the fashion items that deserve a place in your wardrobe.

#4: You will experience the health benefits

Assuming you are camping in the countryside, you will be able to benefit from the fresh air, away from the toxic fumes that are spewed out by cars and factory chimneys. Thanks to the beauty of the scenery around you, and because you will be away from the hustle and bustle of lots of other people, you will be able to relax, recharge your batteries, and destress. And if you do spend your time hiking, climbing, swimming, and running up mountains, you will do much to keep yourself fit too.

#5: You will learn new skills

Bring out your inner Bear Grylls and learn how to make a fire, read maps, protect yourself against bugs, and cookout in the open. Learn how to set up a tent, go scavenging for wood, and benefit from the skills you will learn if you take part in any outdoor activities. A camping holiday can be full of learning opportunities, perfect for your confidence levels and for when you’re trying to impress your family and friends.

These are just a few of the reasons why a camping holiday doesn’t suck, so if you are currently thinking about your Easter/summer vacation plans, consider the option of a few days and nights away in a tent! You will benefit in all of the ways we have mentioned if you do.

#6: You can camp in comfort

One of the easiest ways to enjoy a short hiking trip or camping weekend is the ease of comfort. You can pack a compact air mattress in your bag, blow up, and lay down at your chosen destination.

Choose from a double or single mattress, the colour that suits your outdoor character and once it’s deflated it is the same size as a coca-cola bottle! Head over to www.theplanethikers.com to check them out.

However, there are lots of reasons why a camping holiday doesn’t suck, and we will have a quick look at some of them below.
