As a general rule, I believe that you get what you pay for. And to get high-quality skincare you need to spend a decent amount of money on it. Overall I still stick by this, but there are a few brands that buck that trend. And The Inkey List is one of those. That’s where this post of The Inkey List review has come about. Not only are there some great products, but it’s excellent value.
The brand was founded just a few years ago in 2018 by Colette Laxton. And it was born from a belief that better knowledge about skincare powers better decisions. Skincare can be quite confusing but The Inkey List wanted to change that and make things easier to understand. There are a lot of similarities between The Inkey List and The Ordinary. Comparing the products I’ve tried from both brands I’m more of a fan of The Inkey List.
But let’s jump into The Inkey List review so I can tell you about some of the best products I’ve tried from the brand.
Overall the past year I’ve been ensuring to add Vitamin C into my morning routine. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and skin-brightening ingredient. It’s designed to help tackle the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fullness, and fine less to make skin appear brighter. Alongside targeting signs of aging. I hit 30 earlier this year so these things have been super important to me.
I’ve really noticed that using Vitamin C has helped keep my skin looking more vibrant and less dull. Something I’ve been super impressed with. I’ve noticed my fine lines especially around my mouth and eyes have been better. But this may be because I’ve introduced Retinol into my routine. At just £7.99 this is an excellent price for a Vitamin C compared to the £40+ you can find them for.
I’ve read so many articles talking about how when you hit your late twenties your body stops or reduces the production of collagen. And that’s why I wanted to add some collagen into my skincare routine. I use the Collagen Booster every single morning to help my skin look plumper and firmer. This booster uses Matrxyl 3000™ peptide which mimics the effect that natural collagen would do to the skin.
When I thought about doing an Inkey List Review, one of the first things I thought of was the Collagen Booster. At just £8.99 I’ve been so impressed at how my skin has felt after using it. It’s definitely kept my skin feeling more hydrated and plumper which was the main thing I wanted from the product.
Unlike the other products from The Inkey List that I have, I rotate the Lactic Acid and don’t use it every single day. I know my skin needs exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. But as my skin can be quite sensitive I don’t like to do it every day. Lactic Acid is a gentle exfoliator designed to help with uneven skin tone, make the skin appear brighter, and provide additional hydration. Exfoliation helps to remove dead cells from the skin’s surface.
I have found my skin texture has gotten better since using The Inkey List products. Although this could also be due to the Glycolic Acid I’ve been using on rotation. The Inkey List review of the Lactic Acid is positive, although I do think I prefer exfoliation tonics like the Pixi Glow Tonic or the Ren Ready Steady Glow Tonic.
I’m going to be honest I didn’t find there was a huge amount of difference between Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid. Other than the fact that you get 100ml for £6.99 with the Glycolic, and just 30ml for £7.99 with the Lactic Acid. As an exfoliating toner, it’s designed to smoothen and brighten the skin alongside helping with the reduction of fine lines the appearance of pores.
There’s little hydration in the Glycolic compared to the Lactic. This is where my skin couldn’t have dealt with using the Glycolic Acid more often. I use both of them every four days on rotation. And while my skin texture has improved I’m going to be honest I couldn’t say which of the items has made the most difference. I’ll be honest in this Inkey List review that I probably wouldn’t purchase either again and I’d move onto one of the other products I mentioned above.
I’ve been using retinol every other day for about a year now and my skin has definitely benefited from it. I’ve only used higher-end brands as my general retinol (Paula’s Choice, Dr. Dennis Gross, and Drunk Elephant), but I’ve been using The Inkey List for my retinol eye cream. The cream is just £9.99 for a pretty generous 15ml which I’ve been using for over 6 months now. And there’s still plenty left.
Now I don’t know enough about the technical aspects but this includes vitalease™ as the retinol which is a stabilized retinoid compound. This is a slow-release formula designed to avoid irritation which you sometimes get with retinol. Now to me, this means it’s a lot weaker and doesn’t have the stronger versions of retinol that you may find in other products that are 4, 5, or 6 times the price. But as it’s only going around my eyes I don’t mind it being slightly weaker as it means less irritation. But I have noticed the fine lines I had around my eyes have faded which is a win in my eyes.
After Caroline Hirons raved about this eye cream I knew I needed to pick it up to try out. I use this eye cream every single morning as it’s seen as a wake-up call for your eyes. at just £8.99 the Caffeine eye cream helps to reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines. Caffeine is a diuretic that helps to relieve water retention which is a major cause of puffiness under the eyes.
Much like the Collagen Booster above it has Matrixyl 3000™ in it. This helps to smooth texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines. I’ve been using this for about 6 months so far. And yes I have been sleeping more seeing as I’ve been working from home. But either way, the dark circles under my eyes have been nowhere near as prominent. And they’re a lot less puffy. For under a tenner I’ll happily carry on using this eye cream in the hope it’s had an effect.

I am amazed by the prices! Normally good quality skin products are pricey.
Really interested in the vitamin C one, I noticed the other day how dull my skin is!
Yeah very few brands at this price point work as well as this x
I’ve not heard of this brand before but the eye cream sounds amazing!
This is not a brand I am familiar with but the prices alone has made me want to check the out. I do need some new Vit. C so might give them a try
I like the sound of the collagen booster; I’ve heard a lot about collagen lately too and it’s good to hear you saw a difference with it.
I’m a big fan of adding collagen to my skincare and wellness routines x
I haven’t heard of this brand before but they have a great product range. I’m lucky if I manage to throw on some moisturiser in the morning but I really need to get better with my routine.
They are such a reasonable price for skincare products. Such a great range of products to choose from
I haven’t yet tried any of their products but I love the sound of that caffeine eye cream! It is such a good price too!
Inkey list are not a brand I’ve heard of but the price point is very appealing. Like the sound of the vitamin c, my skin could use it and at that price it would a shame not to try it.
There’s was the first Vitamin C I tried as I thought if I don’t get on with it/ don’t use it I haven’t spent loads of money x
Ooooh, Lactic Acid is supposed to be great for improving the look of gooseflesh. I have that on my upper arms so I’ll have to grab some of this!

So many great tips there, thank you! I will take a look at them. I always love to find a new beauty brand.
This brand is new to me, but I love the packaging. I am interested in trying out the idea of rotating the Lactic Acid and the Glycolic Acid. That eye cream sounds worth a try too.
