Cheap At Home Date Night Ideas

I don’t know about you but over the past year, we’ve definitely let date nights slide. Where we used to do dinner and movie evenings out quite often, we’ve not done a traditional going out on a date night for a long time. Just because we’re indoors much more and can’t go out and do typical date things doesn’t mean we can’t create our own indoor date. Even when things open up I’m sure a lot of us won’t want to start spending loads of money. We’ve gotten used to not spending on restaurants and acitivites. So here are some cheap athome date night ideas.

Cheap At Home Date Night Ideas

Cook a restaurant-worthy dinner at home

So many restaurants are doing at home kits where you can recreate dishes from the comfort of your own home. And I bet a long of them will continue to offer them when restaurants reopen. Cooking together is a great activity to do, plus eating in saves money as the dishes tend to be cheaper, you can drink your own drinks and you’re not paying for transport. So it’s one of the best cheap at home date night ideas where you can still feel like you’re going out. If you want to you can both dress up like you would if you’d go out. But equally, you can cook and eat a fancy dinner in loungewear if you feel more comfortable.

Some of my favourite restaurant-worthy home dinners include Smokestak, Burger and Beyond and Pizza Pilgrims.

Drink tasting or cocktail-making class

Looking for cheap at home date night ideas but love having a nice drink? Instead of paying loads for an alcohol tasting event or cocktail-making class why not DIY it yourself. You can book you both onto a virtual class and be taught how to make cocktails yourself. Or you can browse online and create your own tasting session. You may need to get a few fresh ingredients, but I’m sure you’ve got plenty of things in the cupboards you can use.

And what’s even better about doing this at-home is you can just stumble straight to your bed when you’re done.

Watch your favourite childhood movies in an at-home cinema

Admittedly I do really miss the cinema, but you can create your own at-home cinema experience pretty easily. Grab your food and drink supplies including popcorn, chocolate, hot dogs and soft drinks. Grab loads of blankets and things to cosy up with because who said a cinema had to be cold and draughty? A nice idea is to each pick your favourite childhood movie and watch them together. Extra points if you’ve not seen each others favourites.

Cheap at home date night ideas like this mean you can do the whole date in your PJs if you want to.

Virtually visit a new country for the day

Since travel isn’t really an option you could create a virtual travel day. There are loads of places you can visit virtually from The Vatican museum to the Fjords of Alaska. Once you’ve chosen your experience try and choose some food and drink to match your location. If you’re heading to Italy stock up on sparkling water, fresh pasta, and gelato. Or if you’re heading to Philadephia buy the ingredients to make a Philly cheesesteak.

You can go as extra as you want with a virtual travel day, perhaps you could recreate the airport experience.

Create your own camp

It’s not just kids who can make a den in the living room. Grab some blankets or sheets and make your own den in front of the fireplace. Make sure you’ve got food and drink supplies, sleeping bags, or a mattress and unplug for the night. Technology is a great asset to our lives but you don’t need it to have a good date night. Grab a flashlight and tell campfire stories, or reminisce about when you were younger.

A cocktail-making class would make for a fun date activity and it’s something a little different to the norm too.

I have to admit that we havn’t had a date night at home for a few years now and I’m not sure why as we used to love them. I’d really like to do a cocktail making class together at home. Mich x

I can’t remember the last time we had a date night – if ever! Love the idea of watching a classic film.

It’s great watching new movies, but sometimes watching ones you know you love or that have a special meaning can be more magical x

With 3 kids, date nights at home at the only option at the moment. I like to make a yummy meal, obviously restaurant quality, as I’m fussy lol.

My husband and I do not go out often so these date night ideas at home are perfect! We’ll do this on the weekend. I will have to look for good movies we can watch together.

I love going out but I also love planning a date night at home. We usually try to have at least one date night at home a week. We love doing at home escape rooms with a pizza!
