It is no secret that in order to live a sustainable lifestyle, you have to adopt an eco-friendly mindset. From the clothes you wear to the food you eat, it is imperative that your everyday decisions are made with the environment and future generations in mind.

The benefits of adopting this mindset become evident when looking at ways to save money by going green!.

Be Eco-Friendly and Use Less Plastic Bottles

Start saving money by cutting back on bottled water. What you can do is get a water filter to purify your tap water instead.

You can even start drinking alkaline water, you can buy a filter to help make your water alkaline. All of this will save you money while giving you great quality water.

Use Less Gasoline

Driving is one of the biggest contributors to air and water pollution. So if you’re the only one in your family that drives, try to find some clever ways to get around. Carpooling is a great way for most people to reduce their carbon footprint as well as save on gas costs.

Be Eco-Friendly and Use Less Plastic Bags

It’s not hard to notice that most stores these days offer plastic bags for every purchase! Unfortunately, they don’t break down in landfills, so we’re stuck with them for years.

You can do your part for the environment by reducing the number of times you use disposable plastic shopping bags. All you have to do is bring your own bag.

You normally have to pay for plastic bags and these fees can add up, using reusable produce totes instead and save money.

Use Less Paper Towels and Napkins

You probably know the feeling of exasperation, when we see the paper towel roll dwindle to nothing after just one week! To avoid this problem, cut back on these disposable products.

Find eco-friendly alternatives for your kitchen such as bamboo cloth or organic cotton sheets instead. There are plenty out there that can be found online or even in stores. Most people find them easier to use and keep clean than paper towels.

Another way to ensure that you help to save the environment is by planting a tree. You can actively start doing this yourself in your own yard or look for organizations such as Ellers Farm Distillery that will plant a tree for you. This is a great way of giving back especially since most paper comes from the raw materials from trees.

Be Eco-Friendly and Try Natural Cleaning Products

Using natural cleaning products such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice will also help keep costs down since these ingredients are cheaper than the store-bought ones.

It will also protect the environment. Many cleaning products contain harsh chemicals.

Reap the Rewards

The benefits of an eco-friendly lifestyle are not just limited to saving money it also helps reduce your carbon footprint and protect the planet for future generations

It can be a little bit overwhelming at first to go green, many people find it helpful to do things gradually. For example, you can start using less bottled water and start going to the store with your reusable tote. Start small and you will make strides in no time.
