*This is a collaborative post on ways to liven up your living room
Are you a bit fed up with your living room? Is it not inspiring you the way it used to? Well, it seems you need to discover some simple ways to inject a little bit of life back into it. The home has a huge impact on how we feel, and if you are no longer happy with something, then a change is what you’re after. A change doesn’t necessarily have to cost the earth either. With a little creative flair and a bit of work, you can get the place back to its old inspiring and relaxing ways. Here are some tips to get you started:
A gallery wall could be just the thing you are after. You can put up images of all different sizes, some motivational quotes that talk to you, others of beautiful locations. Why not get a few of your favourite family or friend images printed on canvas and put these up too. It can be as busy or sparse as you want, but one wall devoted to images can make quite a statement.
If a gallery wall is not your thing, what about an accent wall. That is where one wall is a different colour, texture and style than the others. Why not choose a wallpaper you like and cover this wall with that. That way to get the style you like without it being overbearing. This can go well on a wall with a fireplace, or other such decor, for example.
Instead of going for something like a statue or a painting that serves no other purpose than looking nice, why not think about statement-furniture. A beautiful and unique chaise lounge, for example. They can really draw the eye, and what’s more, they are practical too so you don’t have to fill the space with more clutter. Take a look at some beautiful furniture and see what takes your fancy. Think about going to charity shops or garage sales and upholstering something old. This could be just the ticket.
Painting the walls and ceiling can reinvigorate a room. Remember that colour has a huge impact on how you feel, so if you want to feel a certain way, such as inspired and creative, why not try a yellow. Perhaps the room is a little on the dark side and is quite small. Well, light colours can brighten the place up as well as make it seem larger and less oppressive. When it comes to painting, think about a wall mural. Maybe you want to be looking down over a field of horses. If that is too much, then what about wall decals. They are simpler but offer that same inspiring effect.
Maybe you are totally bored of the usually plastered wallpaper painting effect, then why not strip things back to the brickwork. This can give the room an elevated sort of attic space feel, something that seems like an artists workshop. This can definitely inspire you to be more creative.
