*This is a collaborative post on ways to help young people get ahead

Whether you have a child, niece/nephew, grandchild or even a friend’s young child in your life, you will always want to do what you can to help them to get ahead in life. There are things that you can do that can set them up for a much brighter future in life and these are the kind of things that everyone can benefit from. So, what can you do to help a young person that you care about get ahead in life?

Teach Them How to Drive

Driving is an incredibly valuable life skill to have and can provide a newfound sense of freedom and independence. The cost of learning to drive can also be hugely expensive with the cost of lessons rising as well as the various other costs involved, such as temporary car insurance and paying for tests. Many young people are unable to afford these costs, which means that they do not learn to drive even though it could improve their lives in so many ways in both the short and long term. Therefore, offering to pay the costs for them to learn could be life changing. Additionally, you could help them to practice between lessons by sitting in the passenger seat and by offering your own advice and guidance. The more they practice, the easier it will be for them to pass.

Invest in Their Future

One of the biggest regrets that many adults have is not investing money much earlier in their life. The earlier that you invest, the more time your money has to compound over the years and this can make a significant difference even after just a few years. Compound interest is one of the most effective ways to grow wealth as it involves earning interest on top of earned interest, which grows exponentially over the years – Albert Einstein once called compound interest the “eighth wonder of the world”.

A few ways that you can set up a young person in your life for a brighter future is to regularly put money into a high-interest savings account or an index fund. By the time they reach adulthood, this will have grown into a healthy sum that could be used in many ways.

Invest in their Health & Fitness

You also want the young people in your life to grow up to be happy and healthy. The habits that kids develop in their teen years are often the ones that they carry through into adulthood, so you want to help them to lead a healthy lifestyle. You should help them to discover a sport or active hobby that they enjoy as well as teach them how to cook and maintain a healthy diet.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to take action to create a brighter future for the young people in your life and it is amazing the difference that you can make even with small gestures now.
