*This is a collaborative post on ways to celebrate your master bedroom through design
A master bedroom is not just a place to retire from the tumultuous activities of the outside world, but a milestone in life. A master bedroom often signifies you have a home to live in, develop and appreciate, a place to spend time with your partner, and of course, a comfortable room and bed in which you’ll spend a good portion of your life resting, recovering, and feeling restored.
For that reason, our master bedrooms deserve some love, and they deserve to be celebrated through worthwhile design. Many homeowners tend to decorate their master bedrooms last, because it’s unlikely that they’ll invite guests into this private area, but doing so can be wonderful for your sense of place and comfort in your home.
Of course, investing in your bedstead through hybrid mattresses, beautiful duvet covers and sheets, and just the right amount of pillows to keep your back supported while evening reading can be a lovely approach to take. From there, you might consider some of the following advice:
It’s nice to have soothing art that helps you relax in your bedroom, be that a large painting of a mountain vista, some comforting abstract color above your headboard, or even pictures of your family that shows the people you love most in this world, well-framed and placed in the room.
Comforting art adds help a little visual flourish without imposing on the room. It can come in multiple forms, from large pictures as discussed, to artful decorations like hanging instruments, beautiful tapestries, and whatever else you feel inspiring. Expressing yourself through visual appeal helps the room speak to you, communicating to you your best sense of wellbeing.
Soothing lighting makes a big difference, as even bedside lamps can sometimes be a little harsh, and may wake up your partner during a late-night bathroom trip. For this reason, it can be nice to have small nightlights, sometimes in the form of colored LED strips or tubular hallway lamps, to add that comforting, ambient glow to the floor space without illuminating the room too much.
Soft adjustable lamps can also be helpful before you go to bed, as reading next to your partner in this way can help you avoid being a distraction. Match that with some calming music from your connected speakers and the vast array of Spotify sleep playlists, and you’ll be well on your way to comfort.
We’ve already discussed the mattress and bedspread, but the truth is that furnishings can make a big difference too. A comfortable seat you can sit on when putting on your shoes, or an armchair you can relax in when rocking your infant to sleep and don’t wish to wake up your partner, to comforts that make you relax like futons and even doggy beds your beloved pooch can sleep in (some dogs wish to see you as they fall asleep, but of course, letting them on the bed is unhygienic). This way, your home feels comfortable at every level, with all the trimmings that work wonders for comfort.
With this advice, you’re sure to celebrate your master bedroom through design.
