Four Ways To Refresh Your Home For Spring

*This is a collaborative post on ways to refresh your home for Spring, all words are my own

Spring is well and truly here, and Summer isn’t far behind. Alongside the added sunshine and not having to have the heating on it means it’s time for a Spring clean. I always feel so satisfied once I’ve properly sorted out the house, although as soon as it’s done once I tend to have to start again from the beginning.

You can refresh your home anytime of the year, but what better time than when it’s light and you can have the windows open as you refresh. Pop on some good music, grab a cold drink and your supplies and you’re good to go.

Here are some ways you can refresh your home this Spring/ Summer.

Declutter your wardrobe

With the weather changing now is the time to refresh your home and declutter your wardrobe. Start by taking everything out and seeing what you’re starting with. If you’re anything like me you rotate through the same handful of items and forget some of the items you own. I always end up finding so many gems when I sort through my clothes.

If there are things you haven’t worn in a while try them on and make sure they still fit. If there’s anything that doesn’t fit, or you no longer wear put it aside so you can sell or donate it and make space in your wardrobe.

We had a long and pretty cold winter so anything and I have jumpers and winter clothing I never wore. If I didn’t wear it in the last six months chances are I won’t so it’s a good chance to have a clear out.

Refresh your home with a thorough organise

I’m not a fan of cleaning, but I love a good declutter and organise so this is one of my favourite things to do. This isn’t just a Springtime activity, but throughout the year you should continue to organise your home. By doing it constantly i.e. one area a week it will never get too overwhelming.

Most weeks I’ll go through something in the home, whether it’s a particular cupboard, or a set of drawers and just clear out. It’s a good chance to get rid of things you don’t need/ use, organise the space better so you can find things easier, and move items that aren’t in their right home.

Update your sleeping space

Your bedroom is one of the most important spaces, and the bed is the most important part of the room. Feeling comfortable and relaxed, and getting a good nights sleep are so important. And it can make a big difference updating your sleeping setup.

You could give your bedroom a refreshed airy feel with light or neutral walls, or add in some plants. If you’re limited on space look at updating your bed frame to something with added storage so you can put away some of the clutter you don’t need everyday.

We have an ottoman style bed that lifts up and we can fit so much in it. We have all our spare bedding under there, summer shoes/ holiday bits and random misc items.

One of the most important parts of your sleeping set up is the mattress. If you’ve had yours for a while, or you’re starting to get back pain after sleeping it might be time to look for a new mattress. A good mattress isn’t always cheap, but it can single handedly turn a bad sleep into a good one, so it’s worth the investment.

Refresh your home by tidying up your outdoor space

If you’re lucky enough to have a garden or balcony now is the time to give it a bit of TLC. With the warmer weather here chances are you’ll want to spend some more time outside. But if your space is messy or uninviting you probably won’t want to.

We’re not gardeners in the slightest so we’re always looking for super easy to maintain ways to make the space look night. Last weekend I got Luke to mow our front and back gardens to get them into more of a manageable and my next job is to de-weed the flower bed in the front garden as it’s gotten a bit out of control.

Once that’s done we need to hose down our decking so it’s clean and get some new chair covers so we can enjoy our BBQ’s in the sunshine. I may even take a book out there during my lunchbreaks and pretend like I’m on holiday.

I love the idea of decluttering my wardrobe and organizing my space to create a more relaxed environment. The suggestion to update the sleeping space, especially the mattress, is something I hadn’t thought of before, but it makes so much sense. I’m inspired to tackle some home improvement projects and embrace the new season with a refreshed and tidy home.

Omg I really want a bed like that – it looks so easy to organise and store items in! We always wash our old bedding and put it away for spring to bring out our lighter bedding – this would really help.
