At the point this post is going live we’re over a third of the way through the year which is pretty mental. Although I am really happy that it’s getting warmer and I can go outside without a coat. And having lighter mornings and evenings has made a huge difference, I can finish work and still have a few hours of light which is a dream. April 2023 was a bit of a mixed month for us as me and Luke both spent a week of the month ill. Even as I’m writing this 10 days after first getting ill I have a cough and a bad throat. But we’re getting there.
Our Easter weekend was a pretty busy one this year as we had a wedding to go to on Good Friday. It was one of Luke’s best friends and we had a lovely day celebrating their day with them. The wedding also happened to be on the same day as my dad’s 60th birthday when my family were away.
They had hired an Air BnB in Devon so on the Saturday morning after the wedding we drove down there to meet them for a few days. I would have loved to be there for the extra few days that they were and enjoy being in the middle of the countryside with a hot tub and a few books. But the time we did have was lovely.
As we were out of action for a week with illness we didn’t manage to see as many movies at the cinema as I would have liked, as there was quite a lot out in April 2023. Right at the start of the month, we saw the Dungeons and Dragons movie which was really good. I enjoyed the cast and the storyline, and Luke loved the specific D&D details such as the particular monsters or types of characters.
Then near the end of the month, we saw Renfield which was a really great alternative Dracula story focusing on his assistant Renfield. It’s called a comedy horror which was spot on as there was a lot of gore, but it was all obviously fake and done in a comedic way. I really enjoyed it.
I finally got to see Paramore perform a headline show in April when they played at the O2 Arena. The whole show was great with a really good setlist of both new tracks that I didn’t know much of, and hits/ older songs.
The month ended with me and Luke seeing Russell Howard in London. He is one of Luke’s favourite comedians but he’d never seen him before, and I absolutely love him.
April 2023 was a big month of change for me as after three years I left my job at Ocado Group to move onto a new challenge. My last working day was the Tuesday before Easter so I then had a week off to sort things out at home before my new role started.
I am now a Content Marketing Manager at Sopra Steria and it’s a really exciting new opportunity. There’s a lot to learn about the sector and the work the company does, and I’m a little impatient with wanting to know everything now, but I am loving it so far. My very first day happened to be an office day with the whole team so it was nice to meet everyone from day one. And we even got to go out for a social afterwards which was a great introduction.
We’ve been planning our wedding for a blooming long time after getting engaged in January 2020, but now our wedding is less than 10 days away.
A lot of April 2023 was spent paying off final balances to suppliers and catching up with people like our photographer and toastmaster at the venue.
Last weekend I picked up my dress from its alterations which was a very nerve-wracking experience to make sure I hadn’t gained or lost weight in the few weeks since trying it on. I’ve had my hair cut and coloured ahead of the day as well, so the only beauty bits I have left to do are in the few days ahead of the wedding itself.
