Back in January I headed on a few trips around the country to see my favourite band Bring Me The Horizon. And I’m now up to having seen them 65 times.
I find it quite hard to explain exactly how I feel about Bring Me The Horizon and why I see them as often as I do. Looking back on this post from eight years ago about my obsession makes me both smile and cringe at the same time.
It’s been almost 18 years since I first saw the band and it genuinely feels like I’ve grown up with them. Some of my favourite memories, experiences and trips have involved seeing them live and now in my mid-30’s I can’t remember a time without them.
As the band have gotten bigger and play less UK festivals etc it feels like it’s taken me a long time to reach 65 shows, considering I hit 50 back in November 2016.
Here’s how my four nights of fun went.
My first night of the Next Gen tour (and the second of the tour in general) took me down to Bournemouth.
I was doing this tour using minimal holiday from work so I worked a half day before driving down to meet my friend. We had a lovely afternoon and dinner before heading into the Bournemouth International Centre and the first thing I noticed was how small it was for an arena. We had seated tickets for this show but felt so close to the action.
I had the absolute best time here seeing everything for the first time, and hearing the new single live. Although driving all the way home after the show was tough. Getting in at 2am and then working the next day was not a good mixture.
Two days later I did another half day and headed up to Birmingham for night two. This was actually my only standing show of the tour, and probably a good thing as it was my night to drink.
I love Birmingham for gigs and the night didn’t disappoint, although it was the only night of the tour that Noah from Bad Omens didn’t come out with Bring Me. But as I’d had a few drinks I was less conscious about dancing around like a mad woman.
After staying over in Birmingham I met a friend and headed on a coach up to Manchester. I’d been to the city once before but don’t remember a thing. We had a chance to do some shopping, and I’ll definitely be heading back sometime soon.
I am obsessed with the Eating by Todd TikTok/ Instagram channel and he chose one of his recommendations for dinner in Manchester; Ciaooo. The pizza was excellent, but the garlic bread with cheese, nduja and honey was insane.
But what we were really there was the show which we headed into early so we could actually see all four bands. I didn’t realise the Manchester AO was even bigger in capacity than the O2 Arena! Again another spectacular show from the band.
My tour dates finished in London at the O2 Arena. Now I love the arena itself but the station just isn’t set up for the amount of people who come out of the venue. It took us over 45 minutes to get into the station which meant my 1.5 hour journey ended up taking me over 2.5 hours.
I did actually have tickets for both London shows, but ended up selling my Sunday ticket as I was so tired and didn’t want to tackle that journey back again on a Sunday.
The London show was probably my favourite as we had really great seats with a straight view of the stage. And Yungblud came out to join the band for Obey which was a highlight.
Despite being super sad to miss the Sunday night I went out on a high being with friends, and having an awesome time.
It feels quite strange to think that the tour finished about a month ago now. But every time I look back on my videos it just makes me happy again.
I’m hoping to band announce another tour for the end of 2024/ start of 2025 when the new album is actually out. And if so I’ll be going to a whole bunch more shows for my serotonin fix.
I had been waiting for months to see Bring Me The Horizon live, and I finally got the chance to attend their tour in Manila. I was so excited to hear their songs, especially their latest hit, “Can You Feel My Heart”. But as soon as they started playing, I realized that I had bought a fake ticket and was kicked out of the venue by security.
Seriously?! That’s madness, I’d be so annoyed if that happened to me x
I haven’t heard of this band but I know what you mean about following a performer around. I did that when I was much younger and enjoyed one particular singer a lot!!
Oh, wow. I haven’t heard that name in a long time. I love their music, but I actually don’t know many other people who do. Hello, fellow lover of great bands!
It does feel like a long time they’ve been around haha x
Sounds like a great tour. And I say, let that crazy dancing woman out more!!!
They music is very nice and I really want to hear them live. I can’t watch it when they are here in Manila.
Following a band on tour sounds like such a bucket list activity! That’s so cool you got to see so many of their shows!
You can’t beat seeing your favourite band live. 65 times is very impressive! I don’t head out to venues nearly enough and hope to see more live music in the summer.
