With the warmer weather beginning to appear on the horizon, the days will be getting longer. Summer is a lot of people’s favourite season and they want to make the most of it. Start filling your calendar up with day trips, outdoor activities, and trips to the beach.

You will want to look your best as well as feel comfy as the temperatures climb. Here are some dress styles that embody comfort as well as style.

Comfy dress styles for the summer: wrap dress

Wrap dresses are a style that is flattering for every body shape and size. The adjustable tie feature allows you to adjust the fit to however you feel comfortable. The drape of the material around the middle of your body adds to the appeal of wrap dresses as it skims your body and doesn’t cling anywhere you don’t want it to.

Wrap dresses tend to be made out of light, flowing fabric which is perfect for moving around or dancing. Look for dresses made of cotton or linen blends. These dresses are also versatile for any occasion. You can dress down with flat sandals and a sun hat or you can style it as an evening dress with heels and a clutch bag.

Maxi dress

Maxi dresses are a summer classic that has been a wardrobe staple for years. The great thing about these dresses is that they give you a lot of coverage whilst still being airy and cool.

If you are looking for a new maxi dress opt for a soft, stretchy material to make sure you are as comfy as possible. When it comes to the fit, you may want to choose one at is more relaxed for optimal comfort.

Maxi dresses can be dressed up. Some do have embellishments such as ruffles or draped materials. You can also look out for unusual prints and colours to brighten up your style.

Comfy dress styles for the summer: Smocked dress

Dresses that are fitted at the bust and then flow out over the rest of your body are called smocked dresses. This style of dress helps to create an effortless feminine look whilst still allowing you to be cool and comfortable.

As these are typically more of a casual dress, they are perfect for picnics or day trips to the coast. They can, however, be dressed up with some espadrilles or sandals if they are more of a decorative dress with ruffles or have puff sleeve details.

Shirt dress

Throwing on a shirt dress is an ideal way to have a basic layer that you can style in your way on a summer’s day.

If you are just doing errands or grabbing coffee with a girlfriend, you can leave the dress loose and just pop on some sunglasses and sliders. If your event is a bit more formal then add on a belt to cinch in your waist and give you some definition. Belts are a great way to add a pop of colour to a more neutral outfit.
