Out With The Old, In With The New: Say Goodbye To A Cluttered Home

Decluttering

*This is a collaborative post on how to say goodbye to a cluttered home

Have you decided that now is a good time to declutter your home? If the answer is yes, then we completely agree with you. It’s never a bad time to decide that you’re done with the clutter and that you want something new. In fact, we actively encourage it.

What we don’t encourage though is people who start the process 100 times and never get through it. It doesn’t have to be so hard if you know what you are doing. Keep reading down below if you want to see what we have to say on the matter!

There will be items you don’t want to part with….

When you are clearing out, you’re going to come across some items that you’re simply not ready to let go of yet. There’s nothing wrong with that at all, you just need to find a place for them that goes with the vibe you’re trying to create. If you can’t though, what happens then?

Well, your best option is to use a site like Self Storage Booker to book yourself a self storage unit without paying an arm and a leg for the privilege. In here, you can put all of the things that you don’t have anywhere for in your home, but you’re not quite ready to say goodbye to yet.

Of course, you do not want to go too far with this and just throw everything in there. So, it needs to be big enough to fit things in, but not so big that it can fit everything, if that makes sense.

Go through your cluttered home one room at a time

If you’re struggling to get through the home deliverer, it might be because you’re going between too many rooms and you’re getting yourself worked up for no reason. It’s stressful when this happens because you may have been getting somewhere before your brain told you about another task that needed to be done somewhere else.

But; the best piece of advice that we can give you here is to start at one end and work your way around. This way you have a system that you are following, you will feel more organised and you’re less likely to get distracted as you’ve got your goals to achieve.

Reward yourself with something new

Finally, if you’ve muddled through, maybe try purchasing something you’ve wanted for ages as a result. Don’t do this all the time obviously or you will end up running out of money! But, make sure you reward yourself when you’re proud of what you’ve done because you deserve it.

Hopefully, you have found this article helpful, and now know what you can do to turn your home from a cluttered nightmare to a lovely place to live. You need to take your time with this and try not to rush through which is a common issue for lots of people. Rushing is what makes things go wrong though, so you need to slow down and really think about what it is that you are doing before you do it.
