There is nothing better than firing up the barbecue and gathering your friends and family around to pass the time when the weather warms up. Knowing that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to entertain is exciting, especially if you already have your gardening laid out for entertainment. Taking your outdoor entertainment to the next level might be in your budget this year. And whether you have smaller DIY projects such as upgrading your garden shed, or you want to re haul your entire backyard layout by installing composite decking, there are so many clever ways that you can transform your backyard into the ultimate hangout for you and your friends this summer.

Let’s take a look at our favorite ideas for updating your backyard for entertaining

Install your own fire pit

If you want to redefine those camp vibes that you used to have as a kid, then a fire pit is a welcome addition. You can add light after dark and warmth on a cool night. And it’s a natural bug repellent too if you’re looking to cook outdoors. Or at least fire up some marshmallows. You can do that as your fire pit is perfect as a space for everyone to sit around. It’s not too expensive and you can even build your own, but just make sure it’s away from the composite decking. You don’t want to end up with a house on fire, you just want your marshmallows a little burnt.

Add pops of colour when upgrading your garden

A good way to upgrade the garden for entertainment is to make sure it isn’t just a garden. Adding pops of colour with giant bean bags for everybody to sit around on is a nice way to have people relax on the deck or on the lawn. Pops of colour also help to make your garden stand out and make it look beautiful because this allows it to become a place people want to spend time in.

Grow your own greenery

If you want to add a little decor to your backyard, go with something natural. Invest in some locally grown lush plants and if you have the space and time, you can grow your own flowers, vines and bushes are also incredible additions to any backyard. If you have nosey neighbors then something like a climbing plant on some trellis can really help to add some privacy.

Build a swing when upgrading your garden

Swings aren’t just for kids, you know. If you have enough trees in your backyard, then get some decent rope and some planks of treated wood and build your own swing. Make sure that you call somebody in to help install it though, because the last thing you want to do is try to install a swing and end up falling off a tree branch.

Add some mood lighting

Your security lights are great for your security, but they’re probably not so grateful when you want to sit outside and enjoy yourself. There are many ways to bring soft light to a backyard, and mood lighting is one of them. To set the mood while deterring the bugs, opt for small candles or lanterns, and you can even add a string of outdoor lights. Place these lights away from the main table or burn some citronella so that you can keep the creepy crawlies away.`
