New York Photo Diary – Part 2

July 21, 2016

After a packed few days, it seemed that the final three days for me were a lot more chilled with more exploring, shopping and my travel home day šŸ™ Now it’s back to reality in some sense, but I have plenty of photos to look through to remind me of my times.

Central Park Zoo

This is something I’ve wanted to do for ages but it fascinates me that in somewhere as metropolitan and busy as Manhattan a tranquil zoo appears. It wasn’t a massive zoo but for the price, it was well worth it with some great animals such as bears, monkeys, sea lions and tigers.

Cooper-HewittĀ Exhibition

I had originally wanted to go here because there was a Disney Pixar exhibition on but the whole museum was great. It’s a reasonably small place just past the met by Central Park and with some cool exhibitions and things on show it was a great way to spend an hour.

The Met

The Met is absolutely massive; like it’s ridiculous. You pay a donation to go in (although they recommend $24) but there’s so much to see you could genuinely spend a whole day in here. We went on the hunt for some particular iconic paintings we would recognise, the photography exhibition and the fashion one downstairs which was really interesting.

Book of Mormon

Thursday evening I had to run down to the theatre and just managed to sit down as it began but the Book of Mormon was really funny although I think some of the audience weren’t prepared for the rude/ sexual jokes.

Yankees Match

Friday evening I had booked to see a baseball match as it was the only sport in season during my trip. The New York Yankees played a home match against the Boston Red Sox and it was great to say I’ve seen it but baseball is not the most interesting sport to watch! Definitely going to head there a different time of the year and see some Baseball or Ice Hockey next time.

Madison Square Garden Tour

As the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden has played host to some of the best events from award ceremonies, concerts including Michael Jacksons’ last ever show and sporting events as it’s home to the Knicks (basketball) and the Rangers (Ice Hockey). It was so interesting to look around, see the venue when it was quiet and see the set up for that nights’ performance which was WWE.
