Surviving Festivals With Spirulina Tablets

Spirulina

For anyone whose been to a festival before you’ll know how hard it can be to eat healthily and get all everything you need into your bodies. Fresh fruit and vegetables are a rarity and smoothies and fruit juices can be trickier to find. You’re likely to be up for long periods of time, outdoors and sleeping in less than ideal conditons which is where the Indigo Herbz Organic Spirulina Tablets* come in.

I’m going to be honest I’d never heard of Spirulina before Indigo Herbz sent be more information but it’s a modern superfood which is found in powder form. As I’m not a huge fan of powders and find the taste sometimes leaves a little to be desired I was happy to see that these had been made into tablet form. I’m absolutely fine with swallowing tablets so this was the ideal solution for me.

Spirulina is a blue/ green algae which is rich in chlorophyll and other nutrients. It is a complete protein tablet which means that it has about 9 amino acids within it. There are also plenty of B vitamins which help keep your nervous system, mental agility and cognitive prowess healthy. B Vitamins are really powerful anti-oxidants for the brain and give a massive boost. Spirulina also is a high in potassium and has 71% of your daily recommendated allowance of iron which is great for me as I am always low on iron.

I took these every morning at Glastonbury taking the recommended 4 tablets and then having another 4 in the afternoon (although you can take as many as 24 within a day). I definitely found that despite spending five days at a festival I felt a definite boost and didn’t feel as drained at the end of each day. I’m planning on taking these away with me when I go on holiday to give myself a bit of a boost because I am going to have having quite a few long days.

Do you take any vitamins or supplements?

I’ve just started taking a supplement for my skin which I’m going to blog about at a later date.

I’ve heard of these but haven’t tried them personally – anything that can get you through Glastonbury without leaving you exhausted gets the thumbs up x

ooh I used to make spirulina when I worked in a cafe over 15 years ago. It’s full of goodness so i imagine the tablets would be too!

I think I’ve had spirulina in smoothies before, it’s meant to be really good for a nutrient boost and keeping your energy levels up! 🙂

These sound like a great idea for busy, tiring long days, like you said at festivals and on holidays! Never heard of them before though so I’ll have to look further into them 🙂

I’ve used Spirulina before when I’ve been recovering after illness and they really do help you keep topped up with essential vitamins & energy.

I don’t consciously take vitamins but I do love spirulina. A friend of mine made spirulina and raw chocolate truffles which were amazing!

What a great idea! I have a green powder I take off and on, but a capsule is much easier to take, especially when travelling. And brilliant for festivals where the extra nutrition is probably much needed!

These sound like a great idea, I have never heard of them either. I am going to look into these more closely and see if they may be an additional benefit to my daughter and her illness x

It seems like a really useful product to have especially as festival life can be so busy and your body certainly misses out of nutrition!

It sounds good. I normally work at night and coffee is only my best buddy. I should try these so I can lessen drinking coffee but still my energy stays. 🙂

We go to quite a few festivals so I could do with something like this as it can be draining especially when you’re already tired from sleepless nights with a young toddler! X X
