If I Could Only Use Six Makeup Items

September 6, 2016
6 beauty products

My makeup collection is getting a little out of hand and I definitely need a proper clear out very soon. It’s always the same thing though I’ll get rid of two things and buy five. Such a vicious circle. I have so many products which I might only use once or twice for a particular look or just because the shading isn’t quite right for me. It got me thinking though if I could only use six makeup products what would I choose. Now I love using things like primers/ highlighters and other things but when you’re so limited on items I had to forgo them *boo*, but here’s the six items I couldn’t be without.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I don’t know how I ever lasted until earlier this year never having used this foundation. It’s really not as heavy as some say it is but it gives my skin such a good even coverage and with so many shades you can always get one which matches perfectly. The only thing I hate is dispensing the product as I always get too much or not quite enough but when your formula is so great you can forget these little things.

Urban Decay Naked Concealer

I spent ages obsessed with Nars and NYX concealers but as soon as I picked this one up I knew there was no going back. I chose the lightest option and it works really well at brightening up the dark circles I always have lingering under my eyes. This is a thick enough formula to add some real coverage but without looking cakey.
Beauty

Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper

I have repurchased this a few times now as it is my go-to eyeliner when I want to wear black, which is pretty much all the time. The application is super easy with a felt tip brush which doesn’t move so you can create really tight lines, and the pigmentation is really dark black. I am so excited that this is coming to the UK later this month as I now don’t have to stock up everytime I’m in the States.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I am very fickle when it comes to my mascara’s and find it hard to stick to one brand which is why I only picked this up in a mini on my recent New York trip. I actually wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do as I usually prefer thinner brushes with smaller bristles but this is great. The mascara seems to add volume to my lashes without making them look clumpy and for anything to make them stand out when I wear as much eyeliner as I do is a feat.

Face

Hourglass Blush in Mood Exposure

This might be the priciest blusher I own but it’s certainly the prettiest. The mood exposure shade has a slight plum colour which I don’t normally go for as I am quite pale but this works really well at brightening up my cheeks. There is no fall out on this product, a little colour goes a long long way and the pretty swirly pattern stays even through excessive use. Now my hardest decision is which shade to try next.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Dusty Rose

With an overwhelming collection of lipsticks I would have a hard choice of which one to pick but with the best formula I’ve tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks win the brand race, now which colour to choose. If I only had one I’d want something which worked well both day and night which is why I chose Dusty Rose which is a mid-tone lilac/pink which is just stunning and something I find myself reaching for all the time.

If you had to limit your products what must haves would you choose?

I love this post – do you mind if I do something similar and link back to you, saying I got inspiration from you? Obviously it wouldn’t be exactly the same, likely something more along the lines of my 5 go-to makeup products etc.

That blusher actually looks really nice too. I’m due a new one so will consider that..! x

I keep thinking the same thing; this is getting out of hand. I want to be more a minimalist makeup user and I keep moving in the exact opposite direction.

    Loved the post!

Oh that Hourglass Blush looks absolutely beautiful! I think my must haves would definitely be my mascara (I use Lancome Doll Eyes, it’s one of the few things I haven’t been able to find an affordable alternative for) and probably my colour correcting primer to even out my redness. x

Ah I really wish I got on with the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, I found it flaked and left me with raccoon eyes but I loved the brush! x

See this would be easy for me as I’m not much of a make-up user but love reading others views for when I do. <3
