Camera Equipment I Use Regularly

Photography is something I’ve always been interested in, finally getting my first DSLR Camera for my 21st birthday. It didn’t take long before I upgraded the camera and then about 2 years ago I finally went in and got my full frame DSLR which is my baby now. I am not a ‘photographer’ in any sort of professional sense, I like to take snaps. I am lucky that I get the chance to go to live shows and take photos of some of my favourite bands, and I like to take loads of photos on holiday, plus of course there’s photos for my blog (although 90% of the time I’m never truly happy with my images). Here is some of the equipment I use on a regular basis:

Canon 6D DSLR Camera

This camera is my absolute favourite, I chose this one because it was a reasonable price for a full frame and worked reasonably well under low lighting which is incredibly important for taking photos at shows. I bought it second hand from an Ebay group which saved me a few hundred but I made sure I did my research and the camera was only a few months’ old when I got it.

Canon 24-70mm 2.8 Lens

This lens almost cost me as much as my camera and it makes the whole body so bloody heavy but I am so glad I invested in it. I wanted a decent lens for live music photography so needed a low aperture, in an ideal world I would have loved a 1.8 like my 50mm fixed lens but I wanted the choice of being able to change zoom which is what lead me to this lens. It works really well for blog photography as well as there’s a really good range.

Olympus Pen E-PL7

When I had my smaller DSLR camera I used to take that on holiday with me but with my full frame, it just isn’t all that practical for holidays and trips away so I wanted something smaller which wasn’t just a digital camera. The Olympus Pen is pretty much the blogger’s camera but I was drawn in by the fact that it’s small and easy to carry around but has the functionality like a DSLR to change functions. This pretty much comes on any holiday/ trip/ day out with me.

CN 160 LED CN-160 Panel Light

I had wanted a light for my camera which attached to the shoehorn at the top of my DSLR for ages because so many of my photos are taken at night when it’s dark (or starting to get dark) so I need artifical light. I hate using the flash on my camera as I don’t like the way it makes photos look and there’s always the risk of shadows but a constant light can be a great alternative. This was such a great price at under £30 from Amazon. You can purchase it here.

I know the Olympus Pen E-PL7 has been a popular camera throughout the blogosphere for a bit now, some have said it’s quite heavy but overall all I keep reading is that it’s a good camera xo

Oooh Canon is a swear word in our house lol, we are Nikon. I usually just use my phone (as you can tell) but if I do get a chance I get up in the studio and use my husbands professional equipment

I do quite want an Olympus PEN (the hype is TOO MUCH), at the moment I have a very similar Samsung one which I do love though!

Some great tips here. I still use my iPhone if I’m being honest but am looking to go on a photography course.

I really wish I was better at understanding photography equipment as I know it is so important for blogging. I don’t have any of these but it’s interesting to hear about the Pen as I have heard a lot of people raving about it xx

The 6D is an awesome piece of equipment. I’m thinking about getting one once I learn how to use my current camera on manual more efficiently.

I need a good lens so I don’t have to rely on my photographer all the time. I will have to check yours out xx

I need some more lenses for my camera instead of just trying to wing it with one, but I also want to go to a beginners photography course to get to grips with everything x

I should probably buy a camera as I currently use my phone which is obviously limited!

Great list- I’m a Nikon gal but heard really good things about the Canon 6D. Might have to look into purchasing it when I need an upgrade 🙂

I love my Canon 700D but I want to upgrade to a pancake lens soon. I’ve heard so much about the Olympus Pen, I am tempted to add that to my collection, purely as it’ll be easy to carry with me x

I need to change my camera so you posting this is like you were reading my mind. I will bookmark this and read it again once I’ve had a coffee. Thanks for that x

I love seeing what other people use. The best thing someone can do is read the manual of what they use.

I really need to get a proper camera for my blog. My phone (Sony Xperia Z5) does a great job and the quality is fantastic. But it isn’t the same thing. I am looking for recommendations that don’t require a second mortgage lol x

I love my rotolights, but would love to upgrade to a canon 70D at some point.

I’m saving for a canon DSLR, not sure which one yet as I need to do more research. I love the look of the Olympus Pen E-PL7 and I’ve seen a lot of bloggers rave about them.
I have a Samsung NX3000 and right now it does the trick, it’s basically a low level DSLR because I can switch the lens and change a multitude of settings.

  24. Amy Deverson says:

It’s always so interesting to see what other people use and how they edit etc. I don’t really know much about photography, I just use a Nikon camera to take all my pics!

  25. Baby Isabella says:

My mummy’s got a Canon 5D and loves it, she’s not quite mastered it yet though! So many features!

  26. Lubka Henry says:

Wow, how many devices do you have??!! I have never worked with a Canon camera actually – mostly Sony, a bit of Nikon and now Lumix.
Good lenses are vital, I agree 🙂
