As I am being more picky about the live shows I am going to there’s not been as much to showcase over the past month or so which is why I didn’t do a post in October, because of this I have combined two month’s worth of shows into one post.
October and November have been a really mixed month which I absolutely love as there’s been two huge shows, two smaller and a theatrical show although they’re all bands I have seen before so one day soon I will see a new band I promise.
On 10th October I took my boyfriend along to the Scala in Kings Cross to see The Xcerts who are set to release a new album in January. I was really excited to see the band as it’s been a while since I last saw them and they just keep going from strength to strength, although they do deserve to be bigger.
Next up I headed to Brighton on Saturday 21st October to see Bury Tomorrow. They’re one of my favourite bands and usually, I’d have headed to the Milton Keynes show which is much nearer but it happened to be when I was on holiday so instead of missing out my boyfriend offered to drive and we made a small day of it, although the weather wasn’t great. Concorde 2 is a small venue and it was great seeing them in a smaller venue that I’d seen them most recently.
Sunday 29th October saw me head to the Royal Albert Hall to hear the Philharmonic Orchestra play songs from Star Wars. We’d already had a geek-filled weekend at Comic-Con the day before so this finished off the weekend perfectly and it was a special treat I’d booked my boyfriend just before our holiday and anniversary. It was incredible hearing all the music from the big screen live.
Next up was a show at London’s O2 Arena almost a month later where we saw the mighty Queens of the Stone Age. The band were amazing and I forgot how great Josh Homme’s voice is. It was really nice hearing some of the newer tracks even if I didn’t know them as much as ‘No One Knows’ and ‘Little Sister’.
The final show of the month came from Enter Shikari on Saturday 25th November at Alexandra Palace. I was pretty excited about this show as other than Slamdunk I hadn’t seen them play a big show for a long time, plus Watford locals Lower Than Atlantis were playing. The latter were really good although being a support the sound wasn’t quite as perfect as it could have been, but Shikari were amazing. Admittedly I didn’t know all the songs as I haven’t listened to the last album or two as much but production wise it was great and the band sounded amazing.

You get to go to so many things! I would have loved the Star Wars event, but alas, they never bring such awesome things up to Shetland.

Lovely to go to live shows, particularly at The Albert Hall. How exciting. I haven’t been to anything remotely exciting for years now. Live music can be such a good experience.

Sounds like you’ve seen some amazing shows! The Philharmonic Orchestra playing Star Wars songs would be something a lot of my friends would absolutely love.
This has made me want to get out to see more shows! My other half absolutely loves Queens of the Stone Age so I wish I had known about it – it would have made a great Christmas present!
I love going to live shows. One Dec 31st we were at the Vienna Philharmonic as it is tradition that they have a show every year.
