Although I’m still not completely comfortable in front of the camera and looking at photos of myself sometimes makes me cringe I have been enjoying doing more fashion/ outfit posts especially in the summer time when it’s around festival season.
Earlier this month I headed to South Devon to Cuckoo Down Farm and the setting was beautiful and I had packed an awesome festival appropriate outfit so I thought it only fitting to get some images to share the outfit.
The begin with I had this beautiful white button down pinafore dress from ASOS which I didn’t think would suit me at first but it’s actually a really lovely fit. The wide shoulder straps can be tied yourself so you can put the bow in the middle, at the front or at the back depending on what you like and it means you can make them as loose or tight as you want to ensure it fits perfectly. It’s such a pretty design with a square neck and tortoise shell buttons down the middle so a perfect one for the summertime but it would be easy to add tights and a kimono to if the weather takes a turn for the worst, it is the UK after all.
The black studded sliders I’m wearing came from New Look over a year ago but they’re so comfortable and easy to wear, if I can find anything similar I’ll link them down below.
As the sun is currently pretty intense I know I needed a hat and this large straw hat came from Primark and was just £4. I’m not 100% sure if I suit hats and I’m still not sure if I love the style so I thought I’d buy a cheap one to try and work it out.
The next accessory I chose was this beautiful pair of green resin hoop earrings, again from ASOS. I absolutely love the colour and it works so well as a pop of colour against an otherwise pretty plain monochrome outfit. The earrings themselves aren’t heavy at all and are a comfortable fit, plus for £6 they’re such great value.
As the weather is so unpredictable in the UK I always have a mac on me and Blacks have such a great collection of Women’s clothing including some pack a macs. As I am obsessed with polka dots it wasn’t a tough decision to choose this one and it does the job pretty perfectly. With mac’s I always recommend to size up as you want it to fit and do up regardless of what you’re wearing underneath so I ordered a Size 20 compared to my usual size 18 and it gave me that room inside that if I was wearing a cardigan or jumper it would still do up.
With this mac you can roll it all up into one of the pockets to pack it away tightly so it can be placed inside or attached to your bag just in case.
It wouldn’t be festival time without a bit of glitter would it?! Most of the glitter I’ve previously used has felt quite plasticy and had to be stuck on with some sort of glue but the glitter gels* from BOD are just as the name says a gel texture with glitter suspended in them. This means that they’re really easy to apply and nourishing on the face as they’re enriched with aloe vera. For once after wearing them my skin felt soft and strangely hydrated plus the three colours I had are all stunning, although the teal will always be my favourite.
I know glitter itself has been in the press a bit about being not very environmentally friendly but these glitter gels contain biodegradable glitter so they’re not harmful for the environment.
The Mermaid shimmer sprays* are perfect for when you wanted that added festival shimmer. The liquid sprays are super lightweight, non sticky and contain tiny glitter particles which don’t look heavy but give the perfect shimmer. I got the gold shade which is so pretty as it’s not overpowering but you can get it in silver or a blue/ purple shade which is really mermaidy but I don’t think I’d be brave enough to wear it.
Like the glitter gels they’re made with biodegradable glitter so are fish friendly and not harmful for the environment. One thing which I love is that the spray has a coconut scent to it so if you close your eyes it smells like being on holiday.
The final thing from BOD which is a total festival essential is their 3 in 1 dry body wash which does exactly what it says on the tin. You can spray the foam onto your skin and without the need for water you can rub it in and it works as a body wash. Of course it’s not as strong as jumping in the shower but if you’re camping or just out on a hot day in the summer and need a freshen up this is absolutely perfect.
