We’re now onto part four of my future home inspiration posts and every time I spend time on Pinterest pinning away at images it makes me want to wish away the next year of saving, selling my flat and move onto the house hunting period of time.
I used to have an office space in my flat which was my spare bedroom but since Luke moved in this was transformed into a man cave as I didn’t really use the space properly as an office. But when we buy a house I’d love to have a proper office space so I can separate out where I work and where I relax as I’m totally guilty at the moment of doing my work on the sofa in between episodes of the Great British Bake Off which isn’t the most productive. I think having a work space and leaving my camera, image props and laptop in there would help me properly relax in the living space.
I quite like the idea of having my office downstairs house permitting so I can have toughened glass doors opening out from my office to the garden. This would mean making the most of the lighting available which is great for photographs. This is one of the most important things for me, light. As I’ve always have to take all of my items to different rooms in order to take photos as the lighting hasn’t been good enough.
The other option would be to have aluminium bifold doors but this depends on the space we have available.
Thinking of my office I want a desk with lots of storage and to be honest I’ll probably keep and adapt what I have already. At the moment I have an Ikea desk which has a set of Alex 5 drawers on each side meaning there’s quite a lot of drawer space. As I’ll hopefully have a light and airy room suitable for taking blog photos all of my camera equipment will be in here so storage is a must.
I have quite a lot of the walls of my spare bedroom at the moment including photographs, a wire notice board and postcards from almost everywhere I’ve ever been but it’s not styled in the best way so it just looks cluttered.
When I have my own office space I want to make sure it’s styled well and this would include things like a gallery wall and a notice board like in the right image so I can keep things on show which are motivational and make me happy.
I don’t anticipate having a room which is just used as an office so I’d like it to be my relaxing room to retreat into as Luke will have his man cave. For me one of the things which I have been yearning to have is a reading nook where I can relax on a super comfy chair and get lost in a good book.
I have quite a few books and comics so I’d love to get a floor to ceiling bookcase where I can store all of my to read books alongside the keepsake books that I will never get rid of. I’ve started swapping and selling books so I should never have a crazy collection so a singular bookcase will always be enough storage wise. I am in love with the style of the pink chair and think the idea of a matching foot stool would be so good for relaxing, a blanket draped over the edge would be another must.

I love a separate defined office space, it always adds up in productivity and I end up doing so much more. My idea of office space is a bright room, a nice sturdy desk with storage and a vision board to visualize my ideas.
I would love my own office, sadly its in my lounge at the moment
A lot of our office furniture is from Ikea and we have the ALEX drawers – they’re fab! x
There is so much great inspo here. I love your choices. I love the subtle pink, white and rose gold type of themes. They are girly and stylish!
Stunning ideas, If you had bifold doors in your new office that would be amazing. Imagine all of the natural light coming through! That is what I lack in my office and it is sometimes a little un-inspiring!
There are all beautiful. I only wish that I have the budget to redo our bedrooms and have a nice little space for my office. For now, what we have works.
you have such great ideas! I did the same thing before we bought our place and it helped having so many inspirations to draw on when the time finally came 🙂
My husband and I recently bought our first flat and my pinterest for our study is very similar to what yours was! It’s quickly become my favourite room in the house as it’s our office / my library space., complete with a pink armchair too!
I would have a hard time choosing among the designs you featured. I do like the idea of a more feminine theme and appearance. Likewise, when hubby and I move (hopefully within the next year or so), I hope to have a dedicated office space for my desk, printers, file cabinets, laptops, and all other work-related things.
I love the different ways of creating shelving for books along the walls. I could definitely use some more things like this in the house or in my room.
I always get lost in the whirlwind of Pinterest and love these ideas, I just need a goos desk at the moment in my home office
I would love my own office to work, I currently work in the living room or bedroom haha
Your dream office sounds very much like my dream office too! I started turning my spare room in to an office / reading room and I’m ashamed to admit I still haven’t finished it and sit on the sofa with my laptop.
I’d love to have a proper desk to sit at to do my blogging work as I’ve never had the room for one, but I’d also love a little vanity mirror as it’s another thing I’ve never had room for but I’ve always wanted
These are some amazing ideas you have here, and I feel it’s incredibly important to glam up your work space as it not only encourages motivation but also improves how much time you actually want to spend in a room. Just amazing inspiration, thank you!
I do like that cozy corner. The seat looks very comfy
What amazing ideas! We did our office up last year and I love having my own space now to work. Its so much fun to add all the finishing touches!
I’d definitely fancy my own office in a shed in the garden. A nice big one with room for a chase lounge too! Mich x
I love that cozy corner! When I have a larger place, I’m gonna create one with a comfy arm chair, ottoman and side table for my cuppa and shortbread. I’ve planned it in my head already. Lol.
