January has been one of those strange months, part of me feels like the month dragged on so much, but then the other part me can’t believe that a month of 2019 is already over. We’re fully in the depths of Winter, as I write this the streets and roads outside are covered in snow and it’s part darn cold so I’ve been enjoying spending as much time as I can inside in the warmth.
I have also been spending a lot of time indoors as we’re clearing out and packing up the flat which I am half loving as it’s helping me re-assess how much stuff we have and de-cluttering stuff but it’s also tedious. I’m sure you’ve all noticed the increase in posts around home stuff and moving and I’m sure this will continue for quite some time. But enough of my rambling here are some of my favourite things from January 2019.

Ever since clearing out my beauty collections I discovered a lot of mini’s of products that I had been meaning to try for ages but never got round to. Previously I’d only used balm and cream cleansers as I wasn’t convinced by them, they didn’t seem to do too much to my skin but I had a whole bunch of jelly or foaming cleansers so I thought I’d give them a try and I am fully converted now.
I am going to do a more in-depth post on these cleansers soon but the ones I’ve been loving are the Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser which I’ve been loving using in the morning during my skincare routine and the Tatcha Deep Cleanse which is a really nice cleanser with small beads in it so you can feel a bit more a deep cleanse, this one I’ve been using in the evening after micellar water.

I’ve always been pretty bad with body moisturisers and not really used any religiously but since discovering the Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle cream I’ve gotten into it a little bit more. This amazing cream can be put on wet skin when you’re in the shower and have turned off the water about to get out so it takes literally seconds to rub over and it’s worked miracles.
Whenever I use this my skin feels so nice and soft and genuinely moisturised, all from a few extra seconds in the shower as opposed to getting out, drying off and standing in the cold for a few minutes rubbing the cream in. On the day I’m writing this post the Christmas Boots 70% off sale started and I picked up two of the mini sets of these so I am sorted for a long time.
Alongside the miracle moisture cream I’ve been using in the shower, I have been using the Christmas Peppermint Candy scented Body Butter from The Body Shop some evenings before bed. I’m not going to lie and say I use it all the time, because I don’t but I love the scent so much that it draws me into using it and encourages me to slather it on.
I’d never really used a body butter from The Body Shop before but the consistency and texture are really nice as it’s thick but sinks into the skin quite quickly so I don’t end up leaving marks on the bed as I crawl in after rubbing it in. I kind of wish I’d bought a big tub of this as I don’t think other body butters will entice me to use them as much as this but we’ll see.
Next up is a book and it’s the debut novel from blogger/ vlogger Anna Newton and it’s a book all about streamlining and managing your life, work and home and with everything going on in my life at the moment with moving etc this book has come at such a good point. I love Anna’s writing style anyway and this book feels more like having a chat with your super organised mate than reading a ‘self-help book’.
There are chapters on self-care, food planning, budgets, streamlining your work life and so much more and I’m finding so many of the tips so useful. I have always been pretty good with my money and budgets but some of the tips Anna speaks about I’ve started implementing already.
My final favourite from January are my old school Vans which I got for Christmas and I have not stopped wearing. I own (and have owned) a lot of vans, plain black ones, coloured ones and patterned ones but never had the old school vans and I swear they’re even more comfortable than the classic plimsolls. The bit which goes around the ankles feels a bit more padded and comfortable than the other vans I have and the soles feel thicker which means wearing them for longer periods of time and walking around London is even more comfortable.

Ooh fab list of goodies! I love The Sanctuary, some of my favourite products belong to their range. Their in shower moisturiser is amazing!
January definitely did seem to drag on! I love those Vans and I’ve been considering getting Anna’s book for a few weeks now. I might have to order it.
I hands up love wet skin miracle, it just so simple to slap on after the shower, it is one thing I really do try and rebuy over and over.
I am loving the peppermint candy cane body butter. That sounds amazing, it’s great it has a good texture.
I need to try the foaming cleaners plus I have been wanting to check out Anna’s book to thanks.
I love anything minty. I always wakes me up and makes me feel refreshed.
That body butter sounds amazing, I’ve always been a fan of Body Shop body butters though! I also REALLY love the sound of that book. I definitely feel like I need it in my life!
Great list of goodies. I love the smell of Sanctuary products
All of the cleansers sounds fab! I’ve recently sorted all my beauty drawers out, it’s amazing what you find hidden away and forgotten about isn’t it.
I can’t get on with foaming cleansers but glad to hear they are working for you. I’m a huge fan of vans though and love the old school style!
Sanctuary Spa and Vans… what a combination! Although all your other suggestions are up there too. Might have to give the body butter a go. Great tips, thank you.
