Five Reasons Why You Should Go Glamping

During my childhood, I didn’t do camping hots and I wasn’t part of Brownies going on trips away to campsites. My first experience of camping was during my Duke of Edinburgh award in about 2015 and I never really got into it. I couldn’t find the right things to making laying on the floor comfortable, I didn’t like not being able to stand up and when it rained I hated having my wet clothes in the tent with me. Due to my love of music festivals, I couldn’t really get away from camping for quite a while as other alternatives were just too pricey.

Last summer me and Luke did our first glamping trip and absolutely loved it. For those who don’t know glamping is just glamourous camping where you get some of the home comforts of a hotel or B&B like proper beds, being able to stand up, more integrated cooking facilities, and a toilet (in most cases). But you’re still close to nature and able to spend your time outdoors cooking a BBQ or reading a book in the sunshine. But if like typical British weather it rains you can head indoors, here are some of the reasons why you should seek out somewhere like these glamping north east lodges and experience glamping for yourself.

Reasons to go glamping 1- You don’t need to pitch or construct anything

Unlike traditional camping, if you choose to go glamping you’ll arrive and everything will be pre-assembled and set up for you. This is especially good if you’re arriving late when it might be dark, or you’re travelling with kids. This is one of the many reasons why you should go glamping if you’re not a fan of putting up tents and blowing up air mattresses. Plus it just isn’t the same as having a proper bed and space to sit and relax. There are so many stunning glamping options from Yurts, Bell Tents, Safari Lodges and small huts like the one above.

Reasons to go glamping 2- Get a good nights sleep

Sleeping in a tent isn’t the easiest place to sleep, especially if you’re camping on uneven ground. Rock, slopes and really hard ground can make sleeping pretty tough, but when you’re glamping you don’t need to worry about that. For me, a good bed is so important as the number of times I’ve woken up at festivals with a bad neck or a sore back is unreal. And if it affects my sleep it can make me cranky which isn’t fun for anyone. If you need more of a reason to go glamping then just remember that your beauty sleep won’t be sacrificed.

Reasons to go glamping 3- It’s a chance to go back to basics

While glamping does have a lot of the luxuries you’d want around you it is a chance to live a simpler life for a few days. Most glamping options don’t have electricity so there’s no TV’s or phone charging options leaving you to go back to basics. When we went glamping we took board games to play and books to read and it was really nice to be screen less and away from technology for a few nights.

Reasons to go glamping 4-Experience the great outdoors

I definitely don’t spend enough time outdoors, partially due to my work but also because I’m generally not too much of a summer person. So for me, glamping is a great oppurtunity to be outside whether it’s exploring the grounds, going for a long walk, having a picnic or sunbathing. With so many glamping options your activity list is likely to be extensive, some places have on site activities where there’s plenty of grounds to explore. Others might be located near beaches or cliffs giving you more scope for exploration. One of the other best things about being outdoors is seeing the night sky, especially if your location is a bit further out and away from light pollution. I remember glamping in the Sahara Desert and I’d never seen a night sky quite as beautiful.

Reasons to go glamping 5- Visit great locations

Glamping pods can be anywhere so they’re a great base to visit some of the UK’s most beautiful locations from the Cornish Coast to the Scottish Highlands. Suffolk has plenty of glamping options and it’s where I’m drawn to as the little huts included in this post are just so adorable. They’re located right in the Suffolk countryside and sleep two with a double bed, table and chairs, seating area and wood burning stove inside. To me, it looks like a great retreat for the colder Autumn months where you can spend the day outdoors and the evening cuddled up inside. There’s also a kitchenette to cook for yourself and your own private shower room and WC so you’ve got everything you need.
