Four Podcasts That I’m Loving As Someone Who Only Listened To Her First Podcast In 2019

My podcast loves

Can you believe that before this year I’d never listened to a single podcast? The idea of them always intrigued me but I never really had the time to spend searching for ones I’d like and listening to them. But when I went on holiday in Mid-March I decided that it was time I delved into them as I’d have the time to commit. I did some searching around online beforehand and chose a whole bunch to listen to. Some of them I couldn’t really get into and I haven’t listened to more than one episode of but others I am very much into. Here are four podcasts that you should listen to.

Control Alt Delete – Emma Gannon

I read Emma’s book a year or so ago and it felt like she’d written a book about my own childhood pretty much word for word. I’m pretty much the same age as Emma so when she was getting into the internet, chat rooms and MSN messenger was the same as when I was. As soon as I worked out she had a podcast I knew I’d love it because the premise is where Emma gets a guest for each episode and chats to them about their relationship with the internet in some form. There are a lot of episodes so I’ve been pretty choosy so far about going for people I already know or descriptions I find interesting but I love it. The choice of guests is really great and there are some incredibly inspirational women on there including actors, activists, bloggers and more.

Boys Don’t Cry – Russell Kane

I am a huge Russell Kane fan so when I spotted this podcast I wanted to give it a go and I got hooked from the first episode. The premise is that Russell is joined by a few other male guests to talk about the things that men generally avoid talking about from mental health, appearance, sleeping around etc. There is always a woman on the panel as well to speak from the opposite gender’s point of view but the topics they chat about are so interesting and completely relevant. As Russell is a comedian there is a great humour attached to it, but there’s also serious conversation about sometimes controversial topics. There were so many times that I laughed out loud when I was laying on the sunbed on holiday so I can’t wait to finish this series.

Exciting Emails – Vix Meldrew

This is a bit of a specific blogging podcast but ‘Exciting Emails’ by Vix Meldrew has been such a great listen for me. I’m going, to be honest, I didn’t know too much about Vix before the podcast other than the odd blog post I’d read. But the whole series tackles different blogging topics each week from choosing a niche, Instagram struggles, blogging hacks, writing an about you page and so much more. I love Vix’s style and it just feels like I’m listening to a friend give me advice which makes it so much more relaxed. I’ve only listened to a few episodes at the moment as when I was on holiday I just felt I constantly wanted to make notes and write down ideas which wasn’t the type of relaxation I was after for the trip. But since then I’ve started to make a dent on the episodes.

At Home With – Lily Pebbles and Anna Newton

I’ve added this one in even though I’ve actually only listened to one episode, but I love it and knew I would before I even started listening. I follow both Lily and Anna on their blogs and YouTube channels and the podcast is about interiors and being nosy into people’s homes which is right up my street. The closer we’re getting to moving and getting a home the more I’m getting into interiors, plus it’s presented by two women who I think are awesome. What’s not to love?! As I know there’s a chance this won’t be coming back I’m taking my time with it.
